Things like fast roaming or fast switching give older devices fits. I
have the older rbr50, without many issues.

Well no, I haven't tried running LMS without any third party plugins in
a long time. Obviously, that's what I need to do, so I'll have to think
about how to proceed. Certain plugins, like Group Players and Airplay
Bridge, are crucial to the way I use LMS. Others are more incidental.
I'll try disabling the ones I don't depend on first, to see if that
helps.

Would changing the log level on some plugins help? In the case of the
most recent crash, the log shows nothing for ten hours before the
exception occurs. I assume something must have happened to cause the
crash.

Since no one else is reporting issues of this sort, I still wonder if
the problem is specific to my Pi, and I suspect the most likely culprit
is the SSD. That's even though I *think* I fixed the issues with the SSD
by disabling UAS. However, it only occurs with nightlies, beginning
April 4. No problems when I revert to the March 15 build. And so far, I
haven't seen any problems with 8.2.0 - 1618379930. I'll make no changes
until problems occur, if they do.

Thanks again for your guidance.

LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS. Mostly virtual players,
occasionally with SB Radio, Boom or Classic.

logging options may be needed. In each case, the problem begins with the
same exception shown in the first snippet: attempt to fetch on inactive
database handle. But there may be nothing for hours preceding that.

That exception is a symptom of LMS being shut down, not the reason. If
you look at the stack trace you'd see that it's coming from "main::END".

I seem quite a few warnings/errors from 3rd party plugins. Have you
tried running LMS without any of them?

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Unable to play TuneIn podcast

2021-04-14 Thread SimonG156

Much of my listening is podcasts via Radio feature, first saving them in
TineIn as a favourite. One almost always fails to play. The podcast name
in Tunein is London Is Blue - Chelsea FC Soccer Podcast

The log at the time recorded the following

Thanks for your response. Doing more research. I had a router with two
speeds that was fine. Orbi says it is backwards compatible. I need to
call Orbi support.

If anyone has figure this out, please get in touch.

Thanks for the suggestion. You were correct. I switched my LMS to a
different network (from a hardware "extender" back to the prior wifi
router) and the problems cleared up. I've rebooted the extender and will
need to check to see if that resolves the problems/issues in those
network broadcasts. Again, thank you for your diligent commitment to the

A lot of people have reported issues witrh SB devices and WiFi 6.
Does this have a 2.4Ghz Channel? That is what you will need for SB

As always, thanks, Michael. The log is attached. My guess is that more
logging options may be needed. In each case, the problem begins with the
same exception shown in the first snippet: attempt to fetch on inactive
database handle. But there may be nothing for hours preceding that.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Orbi Mesh and Inability to Connect

2021-04-14 Thread LovelyBrook

Just installed the ORBI mesh RBR 750 at home. Router with 2 satellites.
Plugged into T mobile home internet. All is well except LMS. Fast
speeds. Nothing disconnecting.

I have LMS and 6 various squeeze devices that have been happy before the
mesh. Things working great.

They dont like to connect. If they do connect, they disconnect rapidly.
Have gotten LMS to stream once about 10 minutes.

The new network keep changing setting to "public" vs private, no matter
how many times I change it back. In public mode, it will still do
things like wireless print, so I am not convinced it truly is public.

Anyways, this may be a bigger problem than LMS, but I am starting here
since those are the devices affected and maybe this is a common issue?

Thanks very much for any help.

The wierd thing is it isn't happening every time an online scan takes
place. If a scan takes place after an LMS restart would that be an
online scan? It is hard to tell from the server log.

If there's no pass for local files, then it's either a playlist only or
online scan. But what would trigger the scan right after the restart? I
sometimes restart LMS dozens of times a day without the scan kicking in
immediately.

2021-04-14 Thread Michael Herger

It seems to me that the track appearing multiple times is the last local
track played before an automatic scan takes place for some unknown
reason. Maybe the online music scan.

That would be an interesting finding. I'm seeing those scans all the
time, but just double checked again and didn't find a single duplicate
in my database.
