I have installed the latest version of the LMSUpdate Synology (my NAS is
DS 216play) package, but Audio::Scan is still on an older version 0.93.
For DSD playback or transcoding I need it to be 0.94 or higher - which
it should be, afaik, within this newest LMS version.

You are right, its working now, when I use dsf to compressed flac.
Transcode to pcm produces white noise though. Will do further testing!

Its 2017. Most producers have included DSD into their Equipment. Even
my phone plays DSD files now by standard!
I will open a ticket at their website and see what happens. But I saw no
commits to the original sox

I installed LMS 7.9.1 over 7.9.0 beta from Synology, this Error still
occurred and caused streaming to crash to my AVR during random mix.
The Plugin should be disabled by default... seems it's not!

Looking at the CPU usage tells me it is likely not using the GPU hard
floating, when transcoding to PCM, but apart from that all fine.

I can absolutely recommend Philips plugin UPnPbridge. It handles my AVR
really well and without issues after yes a little bit initial fiddling
to set it up.
But I agree, if youre fine with 44/16, just go with AirPlay.

Allow me to comment on these, even if it wasnt my original post. I set
up LMS and also Squeezelite on my old laptop with Linux just today,
effort was painless, but it did involve just a bit of Linux knowledge as
well.

Careful with those packages! Pinkdot said he will not
adding some albums from Tidal, I came across one which cannot be played
by LMS/Squeezelite.
The player tries to open it, shows the artwork but freezes displaying
"Connecting..."

when searching my music collection with "Classical by Composer", the
albums from Tidal are missing. Checking with the Database Query plugin
shows, that both Composer and also Conductor tags are empty.
Is this a general limitation of Tidal? Do other music services supply
them?
