I have two Raspberries with Raspbian on them and copied the
Code:
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/server.prefs
from one machine to the other.
I have uncomplicated firewall activated. It is on both like this:
Code:
$ sud
The player that is not recognised is
Code:
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1564788734
Perl-Version: 5.28.1 - arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int
the one that works is
Code:
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9
My squeezeboxes can access the old server but *they can not access the
new server unless I deactivate the firewall. * I don't understand this
behaviour.
In the server.prefs there's a server_uuid or similar value. You'll have
to delete this when copying the file to another machine, or devices ca
THANKS! There are two entries:
Code:
server_uuid: 44e88511-a31f-49e9-b842-68f4f61e47da
and
Code:
_ts_server_uuid: 1506710398
.
Do I delete both?

And, do I delete the value or do I delete the whole line?

And most importantly: Why does the connection work when I disable the
firewall? How is this related?

No idea.
The _ts_... value is a timestamp. Not as important as the real value.
Delete the full line (while LMS is down).

I deleted both values in the file. The file was updated with new values
(different ones).
It is still not connecting to my squeezeboxes with firewall turned on.
With firewall turned off it does (as it did before).

I now also deleted the whole lines after stopping LMS. I started it and
no connection. The values where updated and are different now.
I can connect with disabled firewall instantly after disabling it.

Following a hint from someone I allowed all ports from a certain
client's IP address in the firewall. Now there is no problem. So it
seems that the connection is established using a different port than the
one I know: 3438. Or maybe there is something wrong with my firewall
(and that port, since
I spoke too soon. I could see my media source folder in Settings but
the webGUI did not show My Music, just Radio and the items below. There
was an option to upgrade at the foot of the GUI, which I did, and since
then I have been back to scratch.
I have deleted the var\lib\squeezebox folder.
Lack of space may be related to a certain part of the disk. Please give
output of `sudo df`.
You said you removed `perl` but the error is about `python`. From my
knowledge there can be multiple versions of `python` on one system. I am
not sure if it is related. The error coming up at `purge` see
The perl removal was a supplementary part of the purge. The system said
there were three dependencies (all perl) and to perform an apt- xxx
function to remove them, so I entered it with the intention of clearing
everything that might be causing the problem...
Here is the df output:
Code:
As you can see under 'Use%' your 'log' folder is full. I am not an
expert in this but you will probably need to reduce its usage.
Also, the error regardin 'LZMAFILE' seems to relate to a packed file
(that probably needs to be unpacked but cannot due to lack of space).
The log folder had nearly 0.5Gb in it. The bulk of this being in these
files:
- kern.log
- syslog
- messages
And all three files had thousands of lines dating from May 2019 to the
present which all said something like:
Code:
kernel: [804969.452376] "squeezeboxserve"
Nice, glad I could help. I don't know what the error is. But there is
missing a "r" in "squeezeboxserver".

Yes, the "r" is missing from all lines:
Code:
Sep 10 14:52:07 Ham-Gat kernel: [ 3439.759876] "squeezeboxserve" (7558)
uses deprecated CP15 Barrier instruction at 0xf6a12ce0
Sep 10 14:52:07 Ham-Gat kernel: [ 3439.762005] "squeezeboxserve" (7558) uses
deprecated CP15
I don't have a clue what that is. But the missing r is weird.

This might suppress the warning
echo 2 >/proc/sys/abi/cp15_barrier
might need a "sudo " in front.
