Simply browsing into the folder from LMS UI should result in it being
scanned and entered into the database.

Im feeling a bit daft. I dont seem to be able to find this
functionality when browsing the album in my Music Folder.
Would someone be willing to provide some more instructions or post a
screenshot.
Ive looked in my Squeezbox Touch menus and in iPeng for
iOS.

Thanks, Jan

Which is an excellent idea IMHO. I do that every time I've added or
changed some album or tracks (and no need to force anything, simply open
the album in the "Music Folder" menu). Perfect when I've done some
simple change like added or replaced the album cover graphic. It's
quick, only affect that album and nothing else AFAICT.
I rarely use the full re-scan, perhaps once a year at most, and never
the partial re-scan.

That's a terrific suggestion @Robbh I wasn't aware that this was
possible. Thanks!

I run Vortexbox and it is enabled by default. I turned it off pretty
much straight away. It would start rescanning before I’d finished fine
tuning the tags with mp3tag. It’s easy enough to launch a rescan
whenever you want from any control mechanism.

Thanks Jeff, I couldn't find the autorescan plugin because it's not
listed in my LMS plugins list. I found it here:
https://www.hickinbottom.com/autorescan and it's indeed only for Linux
and Windows.
Would love ideas to get this running on macOS. I'm not a programmer.

Yes that would've been useful information to add right away ;-)
I'm running macOS 10.13.6 on a MacMini (mid 2011). LMS version 7.9.1

Yes that might be something to tackle. Plex Media Server seems to be
able to handle this, as soon as files are added it rescans the library.
Maybe it adds additional files later to the same album. But I have no
clue if the LMS database would allow for such.

The Autorescan plugin does this.

On linux you'll need Perl:Linux:Inotify2 installed

On pCP you just need the plugin as Inotify2 is installed by defualt (I
Think if not can be installed from extensions)

Not sure about LMS on other OSes

Thats a really nice idea - someone adds a 4cd Album and in the middle of
the "upload" into the lib the scanner starts to rescan and the last
parts of the album is eather not uploaded completly but the scanner
finds a incomplete file and would make yome noise into your lib and log
and the other parts are missing, cause your smb is slow...

cheers another guy with "your" Name :)
