Yeah - that seems like a good idea. IIRC, I think we got bit by this

[1] One possible advantage of this is that normal applications which
do not want to run in full screen mode can perhaps simply unset the
SUGAR_SESSION_RUNNING variable. I have not tested out this idea
though...

I would say +1 for the above. It is very difficult to predict how a
translation might rearrange a string, so _('%s ago') would be the
safest option (along with a #TRANS comment explaining the string).
