It's possible your DNS issue is related to DNS helper schemes that most ISPs now turn on by default. I believe Verizon calls it DNS Assistance; they should have directions on how to disable it. I'm using DHCP option 49 to specify the SRS and option 66 to specify the firmware server. I wouldn't think that would be the source of your problem, though: if DNS resolution failed, I would think that the entire VPN connection would fail, not that it would initially succeed and then drop off some random time later. It seems that we are having a rash of users complaining about the Sunray (DTU) dropping its network connection when using the Sunray from home via VPN. The sunray (DTU) has the default VPN configuration for IKE Lifetime=28800 , IPSec Liketime=28800, Peer Detection=off and Session timeout=0. What could be causing the drop connections ? I do not manage the VPN concentrator but it is a Cisco 3080. Is there some type of timeout that can be changed ?
