Re: [freenet-support] Anyone using Java 5 or macs with 10.4, 32-bit 10.5?

2010-10-28 Thread Steve Oliver
Anyone using OS X 10.6 has a Java6 available, so those are no problem.

Anyone using a 32-bit intel mac will have to upgrade to snow leopard and they
will get java6. It's $29, most mac users have already upgraded but Freenet is
not a good representation of mac users so who knows how many are still on 10.5
or even 10.4.

Anyone using a PPC mac will never get a java6, apple has not released one and
Oracle probably wont either.

Which operating system are you using? Which Java environment are you using?
I've seen OpenJDK do what you describe, restart on page load.

Re: [freenet-support] Unable to "Shutdown" Freenet

2010-07-01 Thread Steve Oliver
The ethernet is a strange problem, nothing Freenet touches could do something
like that but it sounds like the system isn't actually starting with ethernet
plugged in, perhaps it is trying to netboot for some reason.

Your shutdown issue is actually expected behavior, the shutdown button only
stops Freenet once, it does not prevent it from starting itself when your
computer reboots, which is something controlled by the OS itself and not the
Freenet code. To stop that behavior so that freenet only starts when you want
it to, you need to delete a file:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.freenet.startup.plist. It may actually be in the
LaunchDaemons directory, but that is what causes freenet to autostart on Mac
with each reboot. There may also be a cron job, check with crontab -l in a
terminal.

You appear to have pasted the contents of the jnlp file, which is an installer
and not an error log.

Why don't you give the full offline installer a try directly:

Re: [freenet-support] broken link

2010-01-11 Thread steve oliver
I didn't say they were a "panacea", I said those were the links to the
installer files, and they are. I've tried downloading both of them using 4
different browsers, on 3 machines, two of them Macs, on 3 different networks in
different geographic areas, they work fine here. If you are having other
problems, do tell, but as far as i can see there is nothing wrong with the
links or the files.

This is a link to the main installer file
http://checksums.freenetproject.org/latest/freenet.jnlp

And this is a link to the full installer
http://freenet.googlecode.com/files/new_installer_offline_1239.jar

One of them should work for you.
