Precisely so, Jens! That IS what I use.

Thanks a bunch. I now have it in my bookmarks bar.

Interestingly, typing "InfoRSS" into Spotlight or SM's Help window
draws a blank. Nothing found at all...

One more thing.

The InfoRSS FAQ says:

"Q: Can I read the news without clicking on the headline and opening a
new tab ?
A: Yes, since the 0.8.7 version, you can select this feature in the
option dialog. If you move the mouse over the headline bar, the tooltip
will open a mini browser and you will be able to view the full article."

This is what I'm currently missing in my v. 1.2.0.

I don't see an option dialog.
I used to have that "mini-browser" but it no longer comes up with a
mouse over.

I'd like to restore that capability. Please advise.

Seamonkey 2.0beta. InfoRSS was always a crutch for me, the best of the
unsatisfactory aggregators. Now I read RSS with filters and structure, highlight
the stuff I don't want to miss, and generally am much happier.

Well, you did ask for advice...

InfoRSS is an extension. SeaMonkey's built-in Help covers only the stock
features so it's no surprise you cannot find anything there. Granted,
it's not obvious which extensions you have installed either. In SM2
you'll have an overview of all installed extensions in the so-called
Add-ons Manager.

As far as Spotlight is concerned: I don't have a Mac but if I understand
it correctly it's a system-wide file search utility which has some
knowledge about certain document types, similar to Desktop Search tools
for Windows. Extensions for Mozilla products are neither documents nor
installed in a place where documents are usually found so again it's no
a surprise you cannot find InfoRSS that way either.

I would guess so too. His description matches these screenshots:

However the latest version is 1.2.0 not 2.0.

Options dialog:

"You can also display this screen by using right-click (or ctrl-click
for mac User) on the inforss icon.
If you click on the headlines area, you toggle the scrolling mode.
You can resize the headlines area by drag the grey spot just beside the
inforss icon"

The first version of SeaMonkey to support RSS natively is SM 2.0. What
preferences are you looking for? And were they before?

Phil

I'll attempt an explanation :-)

First of all, I use Mac OS 10.5.7, and SeaMonkey 1.1.17.

Sometime back, I managed to set my SeaMonkey (probably 1.1.16) up to
receive scrolling news feeds at the bottom of the current window.

I have no recollection of exactly what I did to obtain that capability,
but nevertheless, I did and it worked fine.

I have been receiving RSS feeds, BBC News and The Register.
A couple times I even managed to modify some preferences as to how I
wanted to see those messages displayed.

For instance, my news feeds show up in the bottom menu bar as a series
of up to 4 word 'headlines.' I can place my mouse cursor over the
headline, and I will get a small message window elaborating on the
story, to see if it interests me further.
If it does, I will click on the headline, and get a full window, showing
the article in question.

You know all that, but I was able to change how I wanted my news reader
to operate, by selecting the news sources and details of how I wanted it
displayed on my computer, etc.

The other day, a notice showed up saying RSS v. 2.0 was available, so I
downloaded it and installed it.

Since then, I no longer get my small window elaborating on the news item
when I place my mouse cursor over the headline.
I don't know where to go to change that preference, which is why I
started the above Subject post...

Once I find the *Preferences* area, I'll figure out how to manipulate it
by trial and error, as I usually do :-) but first I have to locate it!

That's what I'm looking for.
My first problem is, I have no idea what my News Reader is called, or
I'd do a search for it. So far, I haven't found it.

I suppose it might be a plug-in, but...

I'd appreciate a pointer or two, as I can't seem to find assistance in
any Help menu item!

Thanks for the response, Phil.
