I ask that because I have posted a question there three weeks

It's active. It's just that I've forgotten to get around to
investigating your problem. To be frank I've stopped testing against SM
1.1 and concentrating on SM 2.0 and 2.1a compatibility. I actually can't
remember the last time I opened up a 1.1 instance.

I did do a reinstall but to no avail. I am afraid it is my fault as when
I first updated the xsidebar I did not uninstall the old as stated on
the page, I didn't read it, I just updated. Even tho I did uninstall
this time it didn't fix it. I have to learn to read a little more.

Yes. This is Firefox behaviour which is what xSidebar implements. But
earlier you said that you couldn't change the search engine not that you
couldn't see all the sidebars.

I don't have any that really require xsidebar at this point.

The need for xsidebar was to provide a way to make the extension
options accessible. With the Addons Manager, that is no longer an issue.

xsidebar is still a neat extension though.

There was one extension that required xSidebar That I used in 1.1.18.
it was and extension that put graphical emoticons in plaintext. the
advantage was that some of the more unusual emoticons that you don't
normally remember are in the list. Basically it is the same list as used
in the html Mail. I'd love to install it in SM but I've forgotten the
name of it.

Re: CNN out of date in sidebar- do I need xsidebar?

2009-04-03 Thread me2
seamonkey 1.1.15 has a built-in sidebar, appearing when F9 is pressed.
I have CNN extended as one of my sidebar items.
Recently it stopped updating its content.
I am trying to determine if CNN is no longer supports seamonkey's
sidebar, or if something else is wrong.
This is occurring on two different machines so it apparently not a
local problem.
My reference to xsidebar grew out of a reference I saw online- I had
heard of it until now, and know about it.

Sorry, misunderstood.
if sidebar is active , and you select tabs, customize sidebar, you
go to a screen customize sidebar and if you select find more tabs
you arrive at dmoz.org/Netscape/sidebar -
One of the listed is CNN expanded which I've used since sidebar
first appeared.
