I did some quick tests of a couple of albums and after reducing 'W' by 3db
before feeding into your earlier

It can also pass out B-format with or without shelf filtering applied.
It's a JS effect, so Reaper is the ideal platform (there is a JSFX VST that
should work on other DAWs, too).

The procedure that Eero describes is a good way to go.
I've been using some of Farina's FIR filters in a matrix convolution plugin
to perform similar conversions within Reaper. It works rather well for me
and is fairly low latency.
