Maybe time to re-open the bid once, bid max conversation we had on the

These days there is a definite advantage to bidding a bit earlier (though
not as early as possible). I'm thinking more of a last-day thing, far
enough toward the end to avoid the watchers, lowballers and nibblers, but
far enough back to dodge last-minute crashes. But given a stable eBay
server again(remember those days?), sniping would still be the most
advantageous strategy.
So it sounds like sniping about 10-30 minutes before the end is the best of
both worlds -- get your max bid in late to avoid watchers, but early enough to
ensure it gets into the system.

there a better time to end auctions?
A couple of years ago I would've said Sunday night. But now, with eBay's
environment deteriorating? And the increased activity on Sunday PM? I'd
say anytime BUT.
Early Saturday or Sunday afternoon might be good. I figure most serious
collectors will find the auction in advance, and just set up automated
sniping. No point in being there if you don't have to.
Sunday afternoon sounds like the best option. Thanks for the advice.

Actually my new strategy says bid about 2-3 hours before the close. When
eBay goes down, it can stay down for 2+ hours and not give extensions. I've
had it crap out 45 minutes before the end of a great auction before.

Sunday afternoon sounds like the best option. Thanks for the advice.

LMK when you list, I'll take a look.

While not game collecting per se, PayPal has gotten a good amount of
debate here so I figured it was relevant.

Yes. Go ATT. (Lesser-of-two-evils thing.)

On an unrelated note, shocked that CE didn't take a swing at the
 Platypus stamps :)

Oh, I did. eBay's worthless bidding system shit its pants again at the
close. But I would've gotten outbid anyway. Thinking it's time to develop
a new bidding strategy. The system is notoriously unstable on Sunday
nights. (I already tried convincing Brian to set them to end during the day
since just about everybody snipes anyway.)
