Yes. It seems they are blocking mails with possibly forged hostnames. Is this a method to blocking spam or is it against sobig.f? I know other ways to block spam and sobig. 1. Remove MX entry (like t-systems last friday) 2. Shut down mailserver My business mail server don't has this problem. The mails to hispeed are going out. Probably they are checking DNS records and if the name isn't found the sender will be blocked. yes, one of our customers had a problem because he had a other IP for the outgoing mail then the MX. Fix reverse DNS for 195.134.153.38 or use your ISPs mail server Any suggestion? [swinog] [Fwd: Regarding incident of 30th June 2003]
Original Message Subject:Regarding incident of 30th June 2003 Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 11:26:12 +0100 From: Frits van der Graaff [EMAIL PROTECTED] IXEurope Telehouse Facilities is writing to inform you that our Zurich 1 facility suffered a power outage between 18.08 and 19.25 on the 30th June. This outage affected a number of our customers in our Zurich 1 Datacentre. Our newly opened Zurich 2 Datacentre suffered no service loss. This outage was caused by a break of one of the main fuses of the building in which our Zurich 1 Datacentre is located due to an overload within the rest of the building. As the usage of our facility is far within the tolerances specified for the building, we are busy, together with our landlord, to determine how this event could have happened and how we can assure that this will never happen again. Our current actions include an immediate temporary power support system while permanent upgrades occur. Permanent upgrades to UPS, generator and building fuses will occur over the next few months pending landlord and city permissions. We apologise for the inconvenience and will keep you informed on the steps we will make to prevent such situations for the future. Please feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions. A full incident report is available on request. Re: [swinog] ADSL Featured on Kassensturz / SF1
Further upgrade in ADSL performance Swisscom Fixnet has further increased the net bandwidths and transmission rates available to ADSL customers. The net bandwidth for customers is now just 15% below the gross value (e.g. 220 kbit/s out of 256 kbit/s). The difference from the gross value is due to increased security provided to customers on the network. The increase in performance is set to continue: the gross and net values will be equivalent by the autumn of 2003. All customers have the option of measuring the performance for themselves via the Internet (www.enter-adsl.ch). Broadband Internet access is currently experiencing a major boom. ADSL technology and television cable access are competing neck and neck in the fight for customers. High security entails higher bandwidth all customers can measure performance Unlike other technologies, ADSL lines provide the customer with a dedicated and thus more secure connection to the Internet. The high level of security takes up part of the bandwidth (i.e. transmission rate). Following a further performance upgrade, the net bandwidth available to customers will match the gross bandwidth communicated in the offering (e.g. 256 kbit/s) while maintaining the same level of security. An online measuring tool is already available for ADSL customers at www.enter-adsl.ch, and can be used at all times to measure the performance on the customer's own line. Persistent supply bottlenecks for ADSL hardware in Europe Supply bottlenecks continue to exist throughout Europe for ADSL hardware. One third of new ADSL customers are connected promptly, while around two thirds have to wait for over four weeks. In exceptional cases the waiting time is even longer. This unsatisfactory situation is also a consequence of the booming demand for ADSL internationally. The number of customers in Switzerland is five times higher in comparison to last year. Bern, 19.
