1. In the main Thunderbird window, press tab repeatedly until focus lands on
the tab control.
2. Press the right and left arro keys to ensure that the Inbox tab control
has focus.
3. Press the Applications key, arrow down to Close other tabs, and press
Enter to select this option.

My suggestion is this. Use the old keyboard navigation to get to the old
Bullets dialog box - Hit alt O, then N and the dialog will open. The first tab
is bullets and when I arrow through the options, WE reads what they are.

Running WE 9 on a Win 8.1 64 bit system.
I keep getting strange things happening about 25 percent of the time
when my HP laptop returns from sleep when WE was running when the sleep
mode began.
These issues have never happened if I first unload WE before putting the
laptop to sleep.

than the old page buffer which is now gone.

I am using Office 2007 and when I make any change to or interact with a cell in
Excel 2007, I lose speech until tabbing away from the application and tabbing
