Great, I’m currently using windows 7 and don’t use a password. From what you
say, I can keep these same settings when I upgrade to windows 10.

Windows XP Home allowed you to not set a password and go right to the desktop.
If you wanted to do this in XP Pro, then, if you installed the Power Tools
add-on from Microsoft, there was an Auto Logon option you could choose.
In that case, though, you had to have a password, but, using the tool,
also, alt-2, (above the qwerty keyboard) creates a folder, you just name
it.
