Hi Joseph and Jim,
Actually, I just figured out how to fix this.
If you open the command shell, and press Alt-spacebar, you'll activate the
system menu for the command shell window.
If you arrow down to Properties, and press
Already done! It affects other command windows, which is fine with me.

OK, to fix, do altp-space in the command window, go to properties anc
check use legacy console or some such.

However, right now, the only work-around I have found is to use NVDA
whenever I need the command window.
