RE: update settings?

2016-06-13 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Don,

The following passage from the manual explains what the Update outdated
button in the Factory Settings dialog in the WE control panel does:

D = Update Outdated -  Button
When selected, this button will cause Window-Eyes to determine which
installed set files are out of date and automatically update them to the
latest factory version. If there are no sets to update, a message box saying
"All installed set groups are currently at the latest factory version. There
are no set files to update." will be displayed with an OK button. The Update
Outdated option only examines the currently installed versions of set files
and compares those to the factory versions. If the installed versions are
less than the factory versions, those set files will be updated. If the
installed versions are not less than the factory versions, even if the set
files are marked as modified, they will not be installed.

Hth,

Rod

I noticed in the we control panel, there is a choice to update outdated
settings.

Should I do this?

I am running windows 10, and we 9.4

I did notice in the factory settings some programmes seemed to be out
of date.

Windows 10 is running niceley and I do not want to screw anything up

Thanks

Hello Mr. Smith, Charlie here, another Window-Eyes user, do you have the
proper setfiles installed for office? Window-Eyes won't work very well
unless you have the proper set files installed. What version of office are
you running? ...2007, '10, '13, or '16?

It was still not quite and after checking with we support was advised to go

the video drivers and bingo, windows 10 is running very smoothly.

I find no bugs and I just have to learn some of the new features.

I have a normal desktop, finding the start page is fine, outlook email is
working fine, now all I have to learn is that sneaky ribbon.

RE: Word 2007 question

2016-06-13 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
I am not aware of any keyboard shortcuts in Word that allow you to navigate to
the next or previous column. Window-Eyes does have a next line/previous line
hotkey that respects columns. So, if you are reading a multi-column document by
line, you should use Alt-Comma and Alt-Period instead of Up and Down to ensure
you don't skip any content in the other columns.
Best,
Marc

Running Office 2007, under Win7 64. Latest WE.

Whenever I open a document in MSWord, it opens in what is reported as
 Preview Mode.
This causes the speech to only read what is in one of the columns on the
page, for instance in a received and scanned letter, you may not get
much more than the addresses.

I guess I - somehow - could change to another View-setting. But how do I
do that, and which View-setting is prefered to have all the text show up
in WE? And, is there any way for me to "lock" Word to always open in
that view, even when creating new documents?

As it stands, I will have to open the document in Word, then Cut and
Paste the contents into a Notepad screen, to have all the text shown and
read by my Window-Eyes. Would have been great to be able to operate all
the text directly in Word.

BTW, is there a simple way for me to jump from one column in a text, to
the Next/Previous??

Thanks all,

My guess is your document, as it came from the web, has been blocked from

If you open its properties fromits parent folder, in the General tab you
should be able to use the mouse pointer to click Unblock to release the file
and then click Ok.
This should enable full editing.

RE: Menus

2016-06-13 Thread Rebecca Lineberger via Talk
I have Word 2010, Windows 10 and Window-Eyes 9.4.
I can press alt for the home tab and then tab to font. I can then arrow down
through a list of fonts, or I can tab to size, and again, arrow through a list
of sizes. I can also just type what I want in the edit boxes.
Instead of using the menu, I press control-d for font. I can tab to size from
there, but the quickest way to increase size is to press control-greater than
to increase it and control-less than to decrease it. The default size is 11
points, but after that it skips to an even number and goes up or down by 2
points.
My apps are all current and the set file is current for Word 2010.
Also, the display driver for Windows 10 has been repaired.

Naomi,
Are you using the Ribbon or Font dialogue to make these adjustments? What
version of Word? Can you list the exact steps you are using when the problem
occurs?
Regards,
Marc

Probably not relevant, but how are you deleting the trash messages? Are
you going through your context menu?

deleted it, that's not full. Any ideas?

RE: Menus

2016-06-13 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
Regretfully, I don't have this setup available to test. But, you should
definitely check to make sure that the correct Office set files are installed
and loaded when using Word (e.g. Office 2010). Maybe others on this list are
using Word 2010 on Windows 10 and can let you know if they are having the same
issue. But, I suspect that the combination of Office 2010 and Windows 10 is not
very common and not heavily tested.
Best,
Marc

I am using Office 2010, Windows10 and WE 9.4.

With Windows7 in a Word document, I could press the alt key then tab across to
“font" and "font size”. From either of those tabs, I could arrow up and down to
choose a font or a font size.

Now, after upgrading to Windows10 and WE 9.4, when I follow these steps, when I
try to arrow up and down to choose a different font or font size, WE just says
“blank” repeatedly.

Blessings,
Naomi in Michigan

Re: a very strange thunderbird problem

2016-06-13 Thread Singing Sparrow via Talk
you might want to increase your space that thunderbird uses go to. alt t
for tools o for options and on the advanced section you need to choose
network and disc space tab until you hear the amount of disc space and
choose how much disc space you want to allow thunderbird to use. also
you might want to compact all folders .
