Re: Paypal issue

2017-03-07 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Don,

It works fine here. After activating the Pay for goods and services link
I land in the combo-box to enter the email address and browse mode
toggles off. I enter an address, tab to the next button, press space
bar, and the next page comes up and I'm in the amount edit box.

this is in IE. I didn't try FF.

Tom

Using Window-eyes 9.5.4 on an HP desktop running the Windows 10
anniversary edition, I logged into my Paypal account with the intent of
paying for some goods and services. After logging in, I clicked first
on Send request and then on "pay for goods and services." Everything is
fine so far. However, there is an edit field into which one is supposed
to type the email address or the phone number of the recipient of the
money after which the next button will no longer be unavailable.

Using W E 9.5.4, I absolutely could not see that edit field. Conversely,
I had no difficulty locating that edit field using Jaws 17 or the
current incarnation of NVDA.

So, as stated above, it is my hope that other Paypal users will check
this out to confirm my findings. Obviously, you don't have to actually
send money to verify this; however, in order to be accommodating, you
are welcome to send me some so as to fully validate the problem.

Re: Printers and devices

Don,

It works fine here. I come into a list box, arrow down through the
devices, press the application key to open the context menu, and I have
choices for preferences, properties, etc. which all open simple dialogs.

Is there another way to access this same info besides using the printers

Printers and devices

2017-03-07 Thread Don H via Talk
Running latest WE on a Win 10 system. If I go to the control panel and
then select printers and devices WE does a poor job of accessing the
printers and other devices listed. Is there something I am missing
regarding how to read the info shown in printers and devices?
Is there another way to access this same info besides using the printers
and devices accessed through the control panel?

Thanks

Re: interesting problem with Notepad

2017-03-07 Thread Dave Basden via Talk
Have you checked to see that the correct set file was loaded? The
set file announces when you bring up the WE control panel. Try
Control-Alt-W to reload We. I've noticed that sometimes I lose all
kinds of hot key functions, but I don't know whether it is Windows or
Window-Eyes that has the problem. Sometimes only a reboot fixes things.

Re: WINDOW-EYES -- COPY AND PASTE FUNCTION

2017-03-07 Thread Lloyd Rasmussen via Talk
I don't think you can append to the clipboard except with another app that
was built for the purpose. After copying something to the clipboard, I
usually then paste it into a document in Duxbury, Word, Notepad, or whatever
most suits the document. From those editors you can append all you want and
be more or less in control of the process.

Another under-utilized function, which is well supported by Window-Eyes, is
the F8 "extended selection" mechanism in Word, Excel, etc. Read about this,
practice it, and then see how well the other screen readers support it.

Subject: WINDOW-EYES -- COPY AND PASTE FUNCTION

Hi Everyone:

Today, I had a chance alas to play with the copy and paste function in
Window-Eyes using the F8 function key. I find this feature impressive! I
located the beginning of the article I wanted to copy; pressed F8. I
navigated to the last sentence in the article and pressed F8 again! A
window popped up giving me three choices: I chose to save as text and the
entire article was copied to the clipboard. For those amongst us who use
NVDA, is this feature available to you? How about to Jaws users?

One last question: Using the Window-Eyes Copy & Paste feature, how can I
append to the clipboard?

Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado

Windows Eyes 9.5.4.0 - Desktop icons not read.

2017-03-07 Thread Support via Talk
Hi
Thanks to everyone for the support on this matter.
What I ended up doing was to install WE 9.4 on the workstations that had the
problem reading the Desktop Icons.
What is still puzzling me is that there are 5 of the 10 workstations that work
just fine with WE 9.5.4
I will now that the pressure to get it to work, look into the settings for
those workstations and see if I can find out where it went off the rails.
If I find a solution I will post it to the list.
