Ciao,

a quanto ho capito, geocodeArea va a cercare tramite Nominatim e viene
residenziale: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/2196897

Se usi

area[name=Castelnuovo][admin_level=8]->.searchArea;

I also wonder about privacy and security in a distributed system. Will
the distributed system only contain the blurred images? What about the
original images, will they be spread over the world, to servers ran by
unknown people, organizations, governments? Will that be an
improvement over having them owned by Facebook?

[talk-ph] Access tags again

2020-06-28 Thread Jherome Miguel
I'm slowly getting the hang of this, but I think we better discuss when to
use access=private or destination. I'm planning to change the access
section of our mapping conventions, including removing schadow1's personal
(and now-dated and undiscussed) recommendation to add access tags only on
barrier nodes and not on ways due to routes unable to used them.

Having read the def of access=private, I see that roads where a sticker,
pass, or other form of authorization is required for access (like in gated
subdivisions, military/police camps), falls under that definition, but I
still have open questions, listed below.

*What about deliveries? Visitors?
*What if road has entrances for those not holding stickers/vehicle passes
and those who have (e.g. large gated subdivisions, PEZA-registered
industrial parks)? I'm thinking about access=destination or
access=permissive especially for the latter, since some have
mall/commercial area/hotel within them, e.g. Carmelray 2, FPIP, LIMA.
*Overlapping access restrictions (e.g. gated subdivision accessible only
from larger subdivision/industrial park)
*Toll for outside vehicles/access allowed for outside vehicles with
conditions: access=permissive (plus known conditions) or toll=yes, or both?

The only distributed data store I'm aware of with an actual
implementation is Freenet. Freenet exhibits classic long-tail
behavior: popular data has high (>99%) availability with rapid
transfers, while the vast majority of data objects exist only as
references from other objects, and on the rare instances where they're
still in the data store, transfer times are measured in minutes.

If you treat a Bittorent index as a distributed data store, you see the
same pattern: a few popular torrents have hundreds or thousands of seeds
and download as fast as your connection can handle, while the majority
have, at best, one seeder, and many only have one or two users with
partial copies, hanging around in hopes that someone will eventually
show up with the remaining pieces.

In the context of a street-level photography system, distributed
storage means that you'll have no trouble downloading images of Old
Faithful or the Eiffel Tower, but you'll be lucky if you can get even
one photo of Road 783 in central Nebraska.

Distributed storage is one of those things that sounds good, but
nobody's figured out how to make it actually work well.

Yes, for NLS and current OS displayed by MAGIC.

Is that yes, it's mapped, or yes, it's redacted?

Sorry, it's mapped. I don't recall ever seeing anything redacted on an
OS map, but I don't remember when and what navigation we used on a
North York Moors walk.

In that case, the next question is, is it visible, either from a ground
survey or from the overhead imagery?

If the answer is yes, then map it. You can then use your local knowledge
to name it.

Stuff isn't generally redacted on OS maps these days, although it was,
once. There's an interesting disconnect on the New Popular Edition here,
where one sheet was produced while Lakenheath Airbase was still redacted
but the neighbouring sheet was produced after it ceased to be:

http://www.npemap.org.uk/tiles/map.html#191,94,2

You can see it on the 1:10,560 maps of 1949-1969 on NLS as well:

https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=14=52.41301=0.56200=193=3

Although the 7th Series had the road diversion and gave a name for the
airfield, it didn't map any of the features and gave the (misleading)
impression that a track still crossed it:

https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=13=52.41613=0.54170=11=3

Interestingly (assuming you're talking about the radar installation at
RAF Fylingdales), at least as of my 2006 copy of OS's OL6 map, the OS
was still lacking some of the detail - the military area is missing yet
clearly signposted onsite, and the bridleway that runs north of the site
is mostly signposted on the ground but mostly missing from the OS map
(in OSM https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/7600885032 and
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/813719250
).
There are still some "odd" signposts around such as
https://map.atownsend.org.uk/tmp/fylingdales/IMG_20200531_163604.jpg ,
but at least no-one's pretending that there's "nothing there" - it's
fairly obvious in the landscape:

Re: [Talk-br] Nova proposta de classificação viária - Votação encerrada

2020-06-28 Thread santamariense

Vou declarar a proposta

Sorry, it's mapped. I don't recall ever seeing anything redacted on an
OS map, but I don't remember when and what navigation we used on a
North York Moors walk.

I could have said that the reservoir in question will supply many
employees of the (well-mapped!) remaining GCHQ site. I appreciate the
significance of critical infrastructure, but the threat model isn't
like German cyclists in the '30s, and a casual attacker will poison the
obvious open one that's now used for food defence. I don't see a real
issue mapping it, but thought it was worth opinions.

Hello Aftrica,

it is been a long time and I must admit that I "nearly forgot" about
this project but since we do a reorganisation in Trufi Association I
"remembered" you :)

I am happy to announce the release of
https://mapping-bus-routes.readthedocs.io/fr/master/ and some of you
are keen to work on PT mapping projects and to be able to use this
resource. OSM Togo now works with us to enable easier access to public
transportation in their regions. That's why they were so fast in
translating :smiling:

I hope you will benefit from it. I always read the OSM Blog and would
be happy to hear what you do in terms of PT mapping. Take it as an
invite to do PT mapping projects and perhaps to work with us.

--
We - Trufi Association - are dedicated to easier access to public
transportation. We are a non-profit international NGO with our roots in
Bolivia & Germany. We are committed to help cities and regions to run
their own public transport apps. Now we want to help the communities in
Africa.
Communities from Africa helped to bring the French version (
https://mapping-bus-routes.readthedocs.io/fr/master/) of "Mapping
informal bus routes" alive in many different ways. I was really
surprised about the fast translation done by the community of Togo. OSM
Mali and OSM Ghana were very friendly, gave feedback and helped me to
spread the translation project. More people than necessary wanted to
help translating :) It was exciting as always.

Cheers

Hi Sören, Jean-Marc, Enock

Thank you Sören for the great job you are doing with Communities in
terms of Public Transport Organization.
My answer to your question "Does your community need a translation into
French? If
yes, I would set up the translation infrastructure and invite the
onces
wanting to do the translation work" is yes.
Yes, a translation into French will be very useful for most of the West
African OSM Communities and some of them including OSM Mali have been
already working on Public Transport Mapping Projects.

Thank you Jean-Marc, Enock for your comments and for looping in us in
this emails !

Best Regards,
Nathalie

Yes, for NLS and current OS displayed by MAGIC.

The reporter was in one of the structures when it was drained. [The
quality of local news reporting may be higher than much else because
the audience is people who are more likely in a better position to
know/check.]

They could look it up in the HE listing. (Obviously I traced the
outline from imagery, not the OS data.) I was actually mapping the
local listed buildings, partly to point the local history society to
OSM rather than Google maps on their web site.

With good vantage points around the obvious features, as for the
obvious green building that used to be below the area of the
reservoirs... (For historical amusement, I don't off-hand know what
appeared there on 1970s maps, though I think there's one around
somewhere. The OS7 and NLS versions may not be recent enough.)

l'esportazione in PDF mantiene i livelli, io ho esportato PDF

That is standard construction for the old above ground telephone lines in
the US - many times those lines would run along a rail bed, perhaps even
for railroad signaling purposes.

stampare).

Re: [OSM-talk] OSM Carto not updating

2020-06-28 Thread Sarah Hoffmann
Hi,

short update on the issue: libosmium has just made a new release
that fixes the issue: https://github.com/osmcode/libosmium/releases/tag/v2.15.6

osm2pgsql and Nominatim will get new bug-fix releases with the
new libosmium version by today or tomorrow.

You can already download the new libosmium and build osm2pgsql
against that to get a fixed version.

If that is not an option, you can get your installation unstuck for now
by patching the configuration to ignore the offending Klamath forst.

For openstreetmap-carto, add the following patch to your
openstreetmap-carto.lua file:
https://gist.github.com/lonvia/ab7db4156bbfbcf8ebe1ba8185c2e66c

For Nominatim, you need to skip the relation in the import style
file configured through the CONST_Import_Style variable. This
would be settings/import-full.style per default. You need to add
the lines as in this patch:
https://git.openstreetmap.org/nominatim.git/commitdiff/f9ba2af
(careful, the osm.org installation uses import-extratags.style.
You must apply the patch to the style file you use. Just make
sure the lines are added at the top of the file.)

In both cases: after you have applied the patch, kill osm2pgsql
and then restart your update process as usual.

Kind regards

Sarah

nostre tile derivi dati, allora questi saranno in odbl
Penso a modifiche fatte sopra l'immagine
Sicuramente però uscirà l'ennesima linea guida su come fare
