Hello Bob,
1. Does refresh rebuild the index of a mailbox?
No. As Roelof points in his reply, 'Refresh' is for VFs and I think it
should be disabled (greyed out) for normal folders.
2. I notice, in each folder, a .TBB and a .TBI file, together with
a group of .tmp files. Is .TBI the

Hello Peter,
As I have told you in my previous message, these tmp files are net
created/generated by TB. Again I suspect they are created by your
antivirus.
That is not true. TB! generates tmp files when it compresses your
folders. They supposed to be deleted after the compression, but
Hi MAU,
I didn't know that. And I think that my 'conviction that TB didn't
generate any' at least proves that I have never seen any *.tmp files
left over in any of my mail folders. Not even while testing Betas. Maybe
because I have never allowed any antivirus to fiddle with my mail
folders?
Hello Peter,
I know nothing about the antivirus since I have none. Maybe you don't
use compress or never had TB! crashing while compressing, hence never
saw tmp files.
I run Maintenance every night (Purge and Compress) on my whole message
base, several accounts with some 500 folders.

Nope, only a ton of old Office temporary files there.

I guess my point is that management technique may impact the problem
of temp files remaining in message folders.
