Hello Bob,

No. As Roelof points in his reply, 'Refresh' is for VFs and I think it
should be disabled (greyed out) for normal folders.

As other have already responded, yes they are.

That's a good question. I'm 99.99% sure these are not created by TB.
I've been using TB for a number of years and I have never seen TB
generated *.tmp files in any of account folders. AFAIK TB temp files are
of the form batXXXX.tmp and they are generated in %TEMP% or %TMP%
directories (not sure which because in my system they both point to the
same 'Temp' directory. These bat*.tmp files are usually deleted by TB.

I think I've read in another message from you that you use BitDefender
antivirus, correct? This would be my first 'suspect' of generating these
tmp files. Configure it to "Exclude" from normal scanning your 'Mail'
directory and all its sub-folders. Or you can also 'exclude' *.tbb and
*.tbi. If you antivirus is already scanning email as it comes in,
scanning those folder/files is redundant, will consume resource and have
an impact in performance. Aside of that, it may cause problems of the
type you are having.

Yes, TB will generate a new *.tbi file but, as it has already been
pointed out, you will loose Memos if you have any. But you shouldn't
need to do this if you find the real root of your problem, since I
started using TB years ago, I never had to delete a TBI file.

As pointed out by Roleof, the way to go to achieve this is to use the
'Alternative deletion' option. But as he also points out, if your set
and configure this option at account level, it will affect all folder in
your account.

The Inbox is one off the system folders and is much less configurable
(less options) than normal folders . What I have done to overcome this
limitation of Inbox is to create a normal folder that I call 'My Inbox'.
Then, I have an Incoming filter (the last one) that will move to My
Inbox any received message that has not been moved by any preceding
filter. This way, my Inbox is always empty and, because My Inbox is a
normal folder, I can configure for example 'Alternative deletion' just
for this folder.

I may have some more comments to replies in this thread or to your
newest "More On TBB and TBI" message.
