Well, considering the fact that lots of people have been asking for
multiple stmp-servers, you might consider that adding that feature
warrants a full version upgrade to v6, so be happy they made it a
minor upgrade to 5.1.

I've never seen a software product using all of the steps between
1.0.0 till 2.0.0, so why do expect Ritlabs to dos so?

The ability to configure multiple smtp-servers. Can be convenient when
you switch networks regularly. Your office LAN might forbid outgoing
smtp connections or your regular ISP only permits connections to their
smtp server while you're connected via their LAN. In those cases you
might like to switch the smtp-server for a given account.

For desktop oriented systems like mine it's not very usefull. ;-)

Hello Tbbeta,

I'm on 5.1.0.1 beta. Flagging still does not stay in place. I can mark
real folders, and files in virtual folders, but after a reboot of the

something I'd like to see addressed.

Your answer may flatter Ritlabs, but you ignore the statement that I
quoted from the 'About' from TB:

"Valid until version 5.0.99"

It _is_ cheap to promise such a thing when leaving 5.0.xx far before.

Upgrade policy from The Bat! v4

We inform our users that from December, 23, 2010 we start pre-selling
license keys for version 5.x.x. Users that purchase licenses after
December, 23, will receive keys that work with versions 4.x.x, 5.x.x
and 6.0.

>From the same date, the upgrade from any previous version to 5.x.x is
available with a 30% discount. Users that preorder the keys can work
with 5.x.x beta versions before the official release.

Upgrade policy remains the same – every user of The Bat! 4.1 and
further versions are upgraded to 5.0 without key update. License key
for 4.x.x will work with versions 5.0.x.

The Bat! 5.1 is planned to be released in July, 2011. From this moment
it will be impossible to work with the program using previous version
keys, without update on discount.

I suspect that is true. The difference is that hackers are not likely
to go to the effort to compromise TB's system. Not enough people use
it to provide sufficient hacker jollies. IE has been improved, but it
remains the target of choice for such efforts.

However, the latest version before this 5.1 was 5.0.36.5, still

5.0.01 is up and apparently running well with Gmail's IMAP system.

As always, thanks to you and the rest of the RitLabs team for your

If you need a finished version, you can use v4.2.44 which is quite stable, we
are not planning to stop with 5.0 and are moving ahead with 5.1, where we
still have primary focus on stability.

True that browsers are more vulnerable in their native configuration.
However they can be configured to be quite protective with readily
available & proven tools to do this. Additionally, when the user
double-clicks the HTML icon in the message they are aware they are
taking a purposeful action that has the potential for unwanted
results. No system will ever be able to effectively perform actions
that are the users' responsibility without the user losing freedom and
control.

The point of TB having internal rendering being that browsers are
especially vulnerable to security issues. Especially IE. The more
widely used they are, the more vulnerable they are.

In my case, the emails that are most likely to be guilty of security
offenses go straight to junk and are never viewed. While leaving html
email from my legitimate correspondents viewable and renderable. The
better the rendering the betting I like it. I understand that there

The option selector for IE/internal html renderer is grayed out here,
with IE selected. But I see that TB is still rendering not as IE would
do it. I think having a choice is a good idea. If security is your
concern use the internal renderer. Even better would be to fix the

Weird...

BTW, My latest (= today) downloaded "official" Home Edition
says: "Version 5.0.36.3 (BETA)" in its About screen.

Wouldn't it be a nice idea to put a "finished" 5.0.xx

You need a new licence key for 5.1 if you only used the 4.xx key.
Update til 5.xx where covered and for 5.1 you need a version 5 licence
key.
