Opening newsletter messages and copying its shortcut
Hi, In 5.1.2 version can't open news web pages by clicking left button on message description. It was working in previous versions for over 1 year (just checked a message from 6 month ago). While pressing a button on the message TB! hangs for about 20-30s and after that nothing happens. Had as well a problem to copy a link so I can paste it in the browser. That part is random ; mostly works but couple of times I had to open HTML message in the browser to see the news. While trying to copy you can select copy shortcut but sometimes it's not copied. CC addresses missing in preview window (v.5.1.2)
Hi, I have couple messages where e-mail was send to some CCC (message I have in mind at the moment had 3 CC) but when displayed in a preview window only first one is visible. If message is opened by double click all are visible ; same when reply to - just preview part is not working (and that's a bit inconvenience to check CC you need to open a message). Hi Raymund, Hi RS, In 5.1.2 version can't open news web pages by clicking left button on message description. It was working in previous versions for over 1 year (just checked a message from 6 month ago). Did you use 'system viewer' or the internal one? Never checked it before (worked before right after TB! was installed). In Preferences TB! was set as 'Use system HTML viewer (BETA)' (B). After switch to 'Use The Bat HTML Viewer' (A) it works now and Opera is up with a new page opened :) However, there is something strange behavior: - if A is selected and link opens properly I can switch to B and it's opening properly as well ; - after I switch to a new message with B still selected (just a sec ago links were opening properly) TB! freeze for a few seconds again, - if switch to A without changing message ; links are not opening, - of switch to A and switch to a new message links are opening. Looks like that switching A-B or B-A result is taken into consideration passed only after there is a switch to a new message and current message is not reprocessed for new HTML conditions. Thanks for a tip :) Set it up to A (Use The Bat HTML Viewer) and it works now. -- Best Regards, RS (FEDARA) The Bat! 5.1.2 Windows 7 x64 Professional (7601 Service Pack 1) POP3 accounts (x5) Friday, April 27, 2012 (23:05 ; GMT+8) Current beta is 5.1.0.3 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hi Raymund, RS Never checked it before (worked before right after TB! was installed). RA Well, that is a surprise (or did you mean last time you installed RA TB! from scratch?). If you mean uninstall TB! according to Ritlab notes and installing a new one I would say YES :) It was a first time it didn't work ; so before it was installed on a clean system and never had any issue that links were not opening. RS However, there is something strange behavior: RS - if A is selected and link opens properly I can switch to B and RS it's opening properly as well ; RA Let me guess Opera was still open? Yes, why should I close it ; tons of pages are opened :) Will try during next reset if it has any influence on behavior. RS Set it up to A (Use The Bat HTML Viewer) and it works now. RA Good. I wonder anyway why the 'system viewer' is the default now. RA There were some complaints about the internal viewer but not so RA many that I would vote for a change of the default. No idea ; just was surprised that something that worked just stopped working. Anyway, if it's marked as BETA it should not be set as default - just my opinion. Hi Raymund, RS If you mean uninstall TB! according to Ritlab notes and RS installing a new one I would say YES :) RA Uh, they have that in the notes? I never followed that :-) You need to uninstall it through Modify and than Uninstall not direct uninstall. However, even if you select that database is to be uninstalled as well it stays on the HDD after TB! claims that it's all over (in my case it was over 4GB just sitting in a folder and I was surprised after I found it still there). Same is with lots of registry entries that are not removed during uninstall. I reported it as a bug long time ago. As per Ritlab's reply they prefer to remove less than too much. I do not agree with such approach, if user selects uninstall he expects all of it to be removed by uninstaller instead being forced to clean it up manually (data from HDD and TB!'s entries in registry). But it's just my opinion. -- Best Regards, RS (FEDARA) The Bat! 5.1.2 Windows 7 x64 Professional (7601 Service Pack 1) POP3 accounts (x5) Saturday, April 28, 2012 (00:28 ; GMT+8) Current beta is 5.1.0.3 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Outlook to TB -- IMAP to POP
Dear all, That was a big task and ended happily :) Let me tell you what I wanted/needed to achieve and how it was done. I am sure this will be useful for others who are looking for the same to be achieved. Sorry if this a bit lengthy. -- Outlook to TB! -- That was the main goal we wanted to fulfill. The client had an initial wish that could not be solved with Outlook. After installing TB! I only configured it as IMAP as the POP mail base was not yet transferred to TB!. Step One was to convert the PSD file into a more common file format where all, including Arabic Characters and Attachments, are properly converted. The first progi I tried was Outlook Export Wizard. The result was not very promising and my AVIRA always complained the EXE being a Troyan. Then I tried Aid4Mails. First I wanted to locally convert and store the eMails. But that I kind of was unsuccessful. I must mention that the user had 1'200 Folders and 13'000 eMails in the 3,5 GB PSD file. So I had to take care that the folder structure was maintained and all eMails would go into them. When the local conversion failed I tried as a last step the IMAP upload. Prior to that there was a suggestion on the TB!beta list to do so. The upload was successful but it took me 30 hr for that task. Now I had on gMail server the full Folder Structure including all eMails in them. A request by the user was that he wanted all eMails locally stored (POP) as he had it with Outlook. Further he is constantly working on 2-3 different computers. In the past we faced the problem that he maintained 3 different eMail bases and had great difficulties finding his eMails. Based on that experience and requirements I decided to setup his main computer as POP and all other as IMAP. Because of that I now was in need to be able in downloading all eMails from gMail server to the local HD and preserving folder structure. With your help I found IMAPsize. That's a cool little app that access your eMail server and makes a copy as is to your local HD. BTW - 5 GB took me about 16 hr. This was an easy step to go for. The last mile proved to be the most challenging. With the help of IMAPsize all eMails where in each folder stored as .EML file. Now how to get those converted into TB! TBB/TBN files? After longer searching and discussing it was Raymund from this list who kindly helped me in writing a little program - IMAPsize2TB! (nice would be eml2TB!) - that could do exactly this. We needed a bit time to adjust but at the end of the day it was ready to be used. So I was set to run the life task and configure my clients TB!. Today I finished the task. I haven't lost any eMail. A note on POP vs IMAP. I know we could discuss ages on If and Yes POP should be used vs IMAP or If you use IMAP if it makes sense using POP to. Very personally I like to have my eMails locally stored as you never know of once day you may not have Internet and you still want to search and prepare eMails. Done. Should have taken ~2-3 hours not including 1200 folder reorganization. However reorganization should be done by the client anyway as only he know the structure email currently is. -- Best Regards, Vilius Šumskas LNK TV IT manager mob.: +370 614 75713 http://www.lnk.lt Current beta is 5.1.0.3 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Opening newsletter messages and copying its shortcut
Hi Raymund, RS surprised after I found it still there). Same is with lots of RS registry entries that are not removed during uninstall. RA That is a Windows Installer behaviour that can't be helped. The WI RA is designed to work on corporate machines and soho (small office RA home use) computers and while on a local computer you might be RA able to clear the registry keys of not logged in user that will RA already fail if that user selected to keep her data private. OK, so that one would be Registry part, however, Ritlab could make a small program designated to clean up what was left for single copy and single users (as I am) OR at least prepare detailed guide how to clean it up. Not every one is an expert OR likes to play with Registry. Just a wish here :) As for left data, there should be some pop-up message that data were left on the HDD at X location and size of data is Y. There is none at the moment so user doesn't know that something is still there ; I found it by accident because I was short of 4GB on my laptop. If it's smaller database I might not to see it for a long time... From my point of view leaving data is acceptable if there is detailed report as described above. Personally I would remove such data with Eraser so they are overwritten couple of times ; but I need to know that they are still there :) -- Best Regards, RS (FEDARA) The Bat! 5.1.2 Windows 7 x64 Professional (7601 Service Pack 1) POP3 accounts (x5) Saturday, April 28, 2012 (08:58 ; GMT+8) Current beta is 5.1.0.3 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

So if something doesn't work, you need to say whether you are using it under IMAP or POP. -- Cheers, Thomas. http://thomas.fernandez.hat-gar-keine-homepage.de/ Message reply created with The Bat! 4.2.44 under Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3 Current beta is 5.1.0.3 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
