The quick search is okay now in that regard that it doesn't add the
'test+' now in the above case.

But I'd not expect it to move to a different folder if I just hit
enter in an empty field. But that might be me only.

BTW if you're working on that: Closing a tab should bring me to the
last open tab instead of the next one to the left in my humble
opinion.

Set a quick search tab say 'test'. Clear the content of the quick search field

adds the empty search field as a second filter option.

Re: Welcome message is put into IMAP mailbox

2011-09-16 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Roelof!

I strongly believe that the Welcome message should not be put into
the Inbox of an IMAP account but only in the local version of it.

 Why?

Seems that we disagree a lot at the moment :-)

There is no local version of the inbox of an imap account, merely a
cache. And a cache can best be compared with a mirror, it only shows
 what's in the original.

From my development experiences a cache is something to speed up things.
Therefore it does not need to be a mirror.

Anyway why would a welcome message be posted to a remote location?

Re: National chars in UTF8 messages displayed wrong

2011-03-01 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Marek,

I see it correctly in Outlook, because it probably uses MIME definition
instead META tag, which is disputable.

Especially as the meta tag is only allowed in the head tag and the
mail you attached previously definitely doesn't adhere to that.

So the mime type of the attachment should take precedence as there is
no valid meta tag definition. And TB! should display it like that.

Re: National chars in UTF8 messages displayed wrong

2011-02-26 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Marek,

I have same problem for messages from iTunes etc.

Maybe this is the reason?

The HTML part is sent with these headers:

Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

But the HTML itself says:

htmlhead/headbodymeta content=text/html;
charset=windows-1250

The content is encoded in UTF-8 but it seems that the viewer first
picks up the meta tag (which is at the wrong location anyway) and
switching using the menu enforces the encoding.

I see your point, but make sure that you don't add new functionality
then that isn't working yet (to name but a few: hints, image manager).

So, please post your showstoppers as replies to this message and we
will deal with them asap. Please don't forget to add a BT link, too.

I'll try to check for BT later this day, but here are the annoyances
for v.5 that really bother me:

- No update of a common folder after a message from an IMAP account
was filtered into it. The folder count gets updated though. Switch
to a different folder and back shows the updated content okay.

- Mailticker ages not working. Therefore I switched off Mailticker
completely. As I tend to leave messages unread till I worked on
  them.

- Tabs not correctly refreshing. If you have a quick search tab and
switch to unread the content stays. Only 'All' triggers a refresh.

- With a quick search filter active and a message displayed in the
message window if you switch to another folder with no results for
the quick search the message is still shown. Very confusing.

- IMAP folder management needs to be reworked for release. Currently
everyone tries to set there preferences there to no avail.

2011-01-08 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Marek,

selected (it is Gmail account). When I deleted messages in one TB and moved
focus to second one, this error appeared probably when syncing.
 v5.0.0.126 BETA MIKUS-NTB/mikus 8.1.2011 22:29:12.394 IMAP_Cmp:7
 EUnicodeException AddRemotePartEx.Error.Instream=nil.Folder=Drafts

I saw the same one yesterday. It happened when I tried to setup an
IMAP account for a email address I had also a POP 3 account for. One
message was deleted by a filter in the POP3 account, so when I clicked
on the message in the IMAP account it no longer existed anymore on the
server.

I think that the behaviour should be a bit more robust, but think that
the problem itself is not a real world problem.

Hi Maxim,

[-] Various message list tab issues (Beta issue)

I still see the following. Enter a text in the quick search and hit
enter a new tab is created. Fine so far. But the name of the folder is
shown as {te} or something similar. So first of all the text is set in
curly braces and secondly the text is cut (most of the times) and the
cut seems to be random.

[-] When The Bat! was running and the user did open an .eml file
from Windows Explorer or run thebat.exe with command line parameter,
the running copy of The Bat! could hang

That obviously fixed a problem I had when clicking on an .eml
attachment in a mail I was forwarding.

[-] Fixed an Access Violation error when closing the message editor

Never seen that so I can't tell if fixed or not.

But I really would like to see a fix for the parked mail problem when
sending from a common folder. Am I the only one who has this problem?

And the fact that there is no refresh of common folders if new mail is
sorted into them should be addressed as well.

- Why does TB! insist of not using the Drafts folder for drafts? If I

The bad news - I just connected to Gmail's IMAP (my primary account)
and the message bodies in the inbox for the past week have still not
 downloaded;

Seems that 4.2.36.1's IMAP is broken (again).

I can't reliably send emails with it. 4.2.33 worked fine in that
regards.

Thunderbird until TB's new IMAP is ready to go.

Stefan please show us what amazes you :-)

Re: Again IMAP Support (was: The Bat! 4.2 release)

2009-06-08 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Marek!

I do not want to be a nitpicker, but we should stick to the truth,
 shouldn’t we? ;-)

this build called 4.2 was not planned in january and was released now as
requested bugfix version with some additions and Postponed sending. This
 is the reason.

As I'm working at a software company myself I know that from time to
time you have to change plans. That is not was worries me, it is the
lack of communication from Ritlabs itself.

Just a simple 'Hey guys, we're still working on it, but needed to fix
some urgent customer problems first' would be enough for me (at least
for a while).

If you're the official voice of Ritlabs that's fine, but I doubt it.

Re: The Bat! 4.2 release

2009-06-07 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Ethan,

What is bugged in this version?

Same bugs as in the last version as for IMAP at least.

What is it exactly that is required in IMAP?

I deleted my IMAP account three times over the last week to get it usable
again. For some reason the message queue stalled. This was persistent even with
a newly created account. Seems that the queue is saved somewhere...

When it finally started to work again (no idea why it did) it updated several
folders without showing any activity in the connection manager. Not really
something I call helpful.

And: I think someone with knowledge about that posted that 4.2 will be the
version with IMAP working. Obviously that was marketing.

The only reason that I'm still with The Bat! is that I really like the MicroEd.
But with my major account not working from time to time this advantage gets
smaller and smaller.

Re: Number of attachments

2009-04-10 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Vili!

Dont forget, this new stuff was introduced BEFORE bugs were solved.
Caused only troubles, needs to spend more energy on solving problems
 that would not have been.

I work as a QA guy and as much as I can tell the fact that something was done
instead of fixing a bug, doesn't mean the guys aren't working on the 'real'
thing.

I rather assume that someone was thinking hard about how to fix a bug and
needed some distraction or had some spare time after work and thought that's a
nice idea, let's do that. Guess it took around 10 minutes to implement the
stuff, far more time was spent from us to complain or praise about this
'feature'.

On the other side, I get complains because I write a bug report for a minor
glitch that I saw on the way to a bigger problem. People always thinking that I
invested my precious time to find these.

Could someone please mark it as a dead horse?

2009-01-03 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi All,

I got a similar problem. My IMAP account converted correctly, but one of POP3
accounts failed somehow. Same thing for my common folders. Got the same error
message, for some reason the common folders rebuilt themselves as soon as I
selected them.

For the POP3 account deleting the new tbn files lead to an index rebuild and
the messages are shown now again.

Hi!

Can anybody confim that The Bat! hangs with 50% CPU utilization when
you run The Bat! under Windows Vista in 3.98.06?

50% seems to me that one core is running on full usage and the second
one is idle.

So I guess no one without a dual core can confirm this :-)

2007-02-24 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi,

I use an e-mail address on these lists that is not used anywhere else,
but I have received my first spam to this address.

Well, that doesn't mean anything. I have an email address that I never
use (I got it all along with my ISP connection) and from time to time
I got a spam mail to that one.

No one has that mail address in a address book either. So I guess
someone's just trying addresses.

Re: IMAP compressing

2007-01-28 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Dwight!

However, if one were to browse deleted messages, one would find lots
of old messages which have never been compressed away.

I think IMAP behaves differently here. Have you ticked: Purge deleted
messages? I think that will delete (expunge) the messages on the server.
Compress will only compress your locally cached message base.

Hi Krzysztof!

 a. users of Voyager should be warned about the limitation before they
 download software;

Ah, I got informed that I have 4 of my 5 activations left, when I

 b. RITs sould provide some explicit and user-friendy procedure of
 extending limitation in question.

I can't see why one should need mor than 5 activations. Are you really
carrying your Bat on five different sticks around? How do you manage

Re: Tab added with quick search

2006-10-13 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Richard!

I've just had occasion to do a quick search and was very surprised to
see a Tab added under the message list with all my other Tabs when I hit
enter to begin the search. I'm sure it didn't happen with 3.85.02 and

Well it happenes with 3.85.03, too.

it's a bit annoying because I can't see any time when I'd want to do
another search with the same criteria in the near future so have to
 remember to close the Tab.

Normally when your finished with your search you hit Ctrl++ to get rid
of the results, don't you? Because that will close that tab for you.

Re: Weird filtering

Hi Richard!

I've now removed a lot of those words as they can be taken up by
AntispamSniper BadWords filter and, as her address is white listed,
the words used in her mail won't affect her white listed status.

The other idea would have been to move the Unwanted filter a bit down
in the list. Probably after all filters that filter for a known
address.

Re: Invalid cert on IMAP

2006-09-12 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Gary!

This is wrong.. it should ***ALWAYS*** be left to the user to decide
whether to continue to use any cert, whether expired, or incorrect name, or
 whatever reason

Well, that depends on the protocol. It is not always up to the user to
decide if the protocol (SSL, TLS, whatever) has defined that all certs
used have to be valid and an expired cert isn't valid.

What if a user can use even an revoked certificate? That would break
any security policies.

Hi Thomas!

vv you check for the new ver, you're provided with the surpriselog. each

That would not be very smart, it means that there will be thousands of

I think Vitalie didn't meant a custom build TB! ;-)

Anyway, who would want to skip a bugfix?

Me. If I don't have problems with that particular bug, why install a

Re: Un-install wizard doesn't completely remove files

2006-08-11 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Perry!

I was surprised that TB!'s installation wizard did not remove those
files, as I had instructed it to.

While this issue isn't technically about the current Beta, it does
appear to be one that should be resolved, if it is a bug, before the
   next release.

First the files or at least most of them weren't installed.

Second if they were installed and you work as a non privileged user
they aren't in the scope of the Windows Installer. As the installation
was done as administrator.

So I don't think that will be fixed as it is a bit hard to do without
tweaking the complete installation.
