I just hit "Reply" on a message that originally has many people in the TO field.

Instead of just replying to the sender, in the TO field of the reply I see all
people who were in the original TO field.

The difference to "Reply to all" is only that in the latter, also the people in
the CC field will be included.

I went back one version to 9.4.2.9 and found the same behaviour.

Confirmations?

OK, I actually traced it back to my VPN. I had set TB to by pass the VPN but
with the new version that seemed to quit working.
I had also noticed earlier that some links in some emails would not work if the
VPN was on, even when set to the same country. Any idea why that would be?

I know what happened. I had two installations of TheBat! on my compuer, one in
"C:\Program Files\The Bat!" and the other in "C:\Program Files (x86)\The Bat!".
I had moved the downloaded file into the latter directory but the shortcut
pointed to the former, so I never actually opened the downloaded version.

It turned our that the directory under C:\Program Files (x86) contained
TB!32bit, which I had download by mistake once. I have now uninstalled that
version in order to not be confused in the future.

Good news is that it means we can run two versions of TB!, namely 32 bit and 64
bit, on the same computer.

Again thank you for taking the time to consider the different cases,
and providing the steps to correct. But, as I have already said, this
problem has occurred only once, and I believe it was just due to an
error with the temp file used while purging the folder.

Again thanks for all your efforts.

Are we speaking about a POP3 account or IMAP?

If IMAP this maybe a kind of a "cache problem".

So please click with the right mouse button on the folder you want to
clean (INBOX) to get the context menu and than choose in the contextual
menu:
Properties -> IMAP specific (on the left side) and hit the button
"Clear cache now" on the right side of the dialog.

Then try again what you did before.

Maybe you can report the result here if you like otherwise please file
a bug in the bug tracker and give us here the link.

Good luck!

This is a very welcome new feature. According to the status line at the
bottom of the Addressbook dialogue, there are 1374 entries in the address book,
and quite some are duplicate, as I had imported addresses from the sender and
recipient fields of messages received.

I tried it out right away and have some comments.

The first impression is very positive. Side by side the fields of two as
duplicate related entries whose contents can be copied field by field from one
side to the other.

1st: What I am missing are the groups which the entries being show are in. I
have many groups in the book, the largest currently with 524 members. BTW, is
there a way to count the number of groups?

2nd: There some entries of people whose eMail address has proven to be
undeliverable, which I had then removed from the eMail-Addresses field of the
address book entry, moving it to the comments field.

Now, completely unrelated entries are being shown side by side.

3rd: After some changes, and closing the dialogue, I restarted it, played
with deactivating the sort criterion "email address", and after that, an
exception occured, which I could not put off except by killing the program

TB 8.5.8.2 - same problem with Gmail IMAP accounts (serious!)

2018-08-03 Thread Luca

I am a Voyager user, but I installed a TB version also, to test if it has the
same problem with Gmail IMAP accounts (see my previous replies to all new
Voyager versions announcements here).

And it does! I tried with TB 8.5.8, then with 8.5.8.2. With my Gmail IMAP
accounts it's impossible not only to login, but even to shut down TB properly,
I have to kill the entire TB process.

I couldn't find an installer for TB 8.2.4.3. Can anyone point me to that
installer? I would like to test it, and I bet that version works (it does, as
far as Voyager is concerned). Something must have been broken after that and
it is still.

It was sent form Thunderbird/Enigmail with GnuPG version 2 and message
was plain text (UTF-8) - PGP/inline encrypted.

As said - a plain text message S/MIME encrypted works.

GnuPG version over here: 2.2.4

GnuPG problem with inline

2018-01-16 Thread Martin
Hi TBBETA

I found a problem with GnuPG encrypted messages where the arrived
message has GnuPG code inline in the text.

The message can't be decrypted - GnuPG throws an error message
(wrong ASCII and false "radix64" characters).

If the message is S/MIME encrypted there is no problem to decrypt it.

Hello Ira,

just a side note: I am sure you have already discovered the advantages of
relevant
subject lines.
That is the sort of thing when the subject doesn't just say "Wow pic!", but
actually "Cool - zebra rides an elephant".
In the same way, I imagine, people would have a much easier time referring to
your email if the subject included a short description of the topic, such
as "TheBat! sends two HTML attachments, one completely empty" and not just
something the like of "Oh bug!".

Hello Stuart,

normally you'd go to the THE BAT! folder, right-click the exe to produce a
shortcut, cut that out, paste it to the desktop and then drag it into the task
bar.

But the workaround you describe is the most comfortable and moreover the most
elegant way to store the icon (the shortcut) in the taskbar.

Because at least in Windows 10 that works like a charm also for other shortcuts
that you before never got to fix in the taskbar by dragging it there!

The old Quick Launch problem...

2017-11-13 Thread tux.
I have a recurring issue (and I can be quite a menace about that :-D):

I have The Bat! in my quicklaunch bar (Windows 10, so I basically
pinned it to the "taskbar"). There is no problem with .RAR updates,
but the The Bat! installers destroy the icon every time. Running a The
Bat! installer requires me to remove the quicklaunch icon and add it
again, as described here:

https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/2461919/program-icons-that-are-pinned-to-the-taskbar-may-be-missing-or-be-disp

Atom had a similar issue a while back but they fixed it:

https://github.com/atom/atom/issues/8858

I understand that this has something to do with application internals,
probably something related to how Windows "registers" a new
application, but is there a way to leave existing pinned icons intact
when updating The Bat!?

It is worse, instead of just using the first address in the list, TheBat! does
contatenate all addresses in the contact which results in an invalid address,

Address book templates will only be used when the person (or group) that have
that template defined, are the first one listed

First - you are right - I mistyped the whole thing then corrected all but that.
Chalk that up to late night :)) I did of course mean REPLY TO ALL
I have a reply template configured in the address book, but if I reply to all,
it is not invoked. I listed the fact that I do use a FORWARD FOLDER template
since that may be helpful in tracing the problem (it may be overriding the
address book entry?) That of course would be a bug

2013-02-07 Thread Steven P Vallière

I've been noticing that message from one particular sender
are often sent to the junk folder instead of going where
the filter that matches both the subject and the sender
(though the filter is set to the OR of either one.) This
doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it has been happening often
enough that I need to ask a question:

What happens first: Filtering or Junk Checking?

I have the Regula anti-spam plug-in and, overall, have
been very happy with it, so this is more of a curiosity
than a problem. I think I can correct it by adding the
automated account that sends me the daily report that is
having trouble to my address book (and thereby whitelisting
it for the anti-spam plug-in.)

I'm still curious about the order of evaluation, though.

It certainly /looks/ like the anti-spam is run BEFORE any
of my filters. I wonder if it would be possible (and useful)
to be able to have the anti-spam and anti-virus plug-ins
listed in the filters so that we could move some of our own
special exceptions before or after them?

Junk checking happens first. Cannot be altered.

However, what you can do, is make your spam filter add a header (or
add something to the subject), but not drop it to the junk folder.
And configure the sorting office to move everything with that spam
header to your junk folder.
You should place that spam filter in your sorting in such a way that
addresses with lots of false positives get filtered before your spam
filter gets activated.
Unfortunately I don't know for sure whether this is possibe with your
Regula plug-in.

IMAP filtering problem

2012-09-05 Thread Martin Schoch
Hi TBBETA

What I did with an IMAP account:

1. Set a new folder under INBOX
2. Set a new filter - filter message with found header string - move
to new folder
3. Re-filter the INBOX
4. After some messages found filtering stopped. When I re-start
re-filtering when process finds a message it stops - but there are plenty of
message to move

Something seems not to work.

2012-06-25 Thread Tony Hoare
Hello Maxim,

Correct calcluation of local time of a message received in Winter but
displayed in Summer took much CPU time, especially under windows XP.
That's why opening large folders was slow. We've modified the
algorithm to open large folers so now the local time is calcluated
only for a small number of messages displayed on screen, not the total
number of messages in a folder as it was before.

I think we're talking about a different problem then. The problem I'm
reporting is the wrong timezone offset produced when composing an
email. 5.0.36.2 correctly adds an offset of +0100 but subsequent
version use -0100.

This is not dependent upon being shown in a folder as I can send to
Gmail as see the problem there.

Cheers.

Messages coding problem in v5.1.2 (Simplified Traditional Chinese ; Polish)

2012-04-26 Thread RS (FEDARA)
Hi,

I'm a bit confused with: View-Character Set in the main drop down
menu on the main window and Right Mouse Click-Encoding option on the
message window when it's opened. Will call later on first one A) and
second one B). Message is in UTF-8 ; OS is English.

What is a difference between them? Shouldn't just setting A be enough?

Now to display properly Simplified message I need NOT TO modify A (let
TB! to detect it) BUT additionally I need to set B.

However, there are following issues for Simplified Chinese:
- if A is set to autodetect Chinese Simplified messages I have are
displayed in Cyrillic (embedded graphics in messages is replaced by
Cyrillic strings as well).

- if TB! B section is set to AutoDetect almost each Simplified
Chinese (S_CHN) message is displayed improperly (A is detected as
UTF-8 - proper ; B was set by default to Western European (Windows) -
AutoDetect Option was not active).

If you turn off AutoDetect and turn it on - message is displayed
properly. When you go to other message and back to that one it's wrong
again up to the moment it's manually corrected.

For some reasons TB! first AutoDetect identifies it as GB2312 but
second AutoDetect (manual one) identifies it as UTF-8 (that is
proper).

- After message is manually re-AutoDetected and clicked twice to open,
previously selected encoding is reset to GB2312 despite that it was
just properly re-AutoDetected. After re-AutoDetected again it's good
again.

- After above properly re-AutoDetected message is reply message is
coded in UTF-8 but probably Chinese characters were again enforced to
GB2312 and that makes all Chinese part unreadable while Reply to.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE

I was not able to properly display a message coded in GBK. Some
characters were replaced by question marks.

For some reasons TB! detected it as UTF-8 while it's coded in GBK.

Hello Maxim,

The Bat! 5.0.36.5 (BETA) is available at
 http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/a-5/tb50365.rar

 What's new in 5.0.36.5 since 5.0.36.4:
[-] Transfer encoding for non-ASCII characters in message headers
cannot be changed (combo-box was disabled by accident)
[-] Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window exception after
double-click on message in Mail Ticker (Focus to message option is used)
[-] Watch and Send files scheduler action could be not working
correctly with Unicode file names in some cases
[+] It is now possible to create a new address group from the group
selection dialogue called from an address item editor
[-] Some problems using in-line images in mass mailing using HTML templates

Still has the timezone offset problem.

The Bat! 5.0.36.4 (BETA) is available at
 http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/a-5/tb50364.rar

I still have the wrong timezone. As no one else seems to have this,
could someone please explain where TB gets the timezone information
 from?

I have definitive proved that it the timezone problem occurs in
5.0.36.3 5.0.36.4 but is OK in 5.0.36.2 from the 5.0.36 MSI

If I clear the cache and reload the dates are all correct except for
the message I sent with the wrong timezone info. At least I can use TB
again.

Now using Outlook. Not sure how to quote, etc in Outlook. This message may

This gets weirder.

If I flush the cache, it refills and the message list shows the correct
times.
If I then move to another folder and then back, the times have all changed
as if TB's
local timezone has changed.

Hi

Any chance that this problem with GnuPG 1.4.11 on XP will be fixed -
it is still in 5.0.22.7 ?

with the recent version 5.0.22.3 of TheBat! on Windows XP I can't
 decrypt an encrypted GPG message.

 The logout of GPG window

gpg: can't query passphrase in batch mode
gpg: encrypted with 2048-bit RSA key, ID , created 2011-08-02
gpg: public key decryption failed: bad passphrase

GnuPG decrypt problem, 2nd

2011-08-05 Thread Martin Schoch
Hi TBBETA

As already written in my XP SP2 installation TheBat! calls GnuPG as
follows - and the decrypt of the message fails:

F:\Prog\GNU\GnuPG\gpg.exe --batch --display-charset utf-8 --armor --status-fd
1728 --decrypt
F:\DOKUME~1\MMS\LOKALE~1\Temp\bat2D0.tmp

In a Windows Vista SP2 installation, where decrypt of message works TheBat!
calls
GnuPG as follows:

C:\Program Files\GNU\GnuPG\gpg.exe --batch --display-charset utf-8
--armor --keyring C:\Users\MMS\AppData\Roaming\gnupg\pubring.gpg
--secret-keyring C:\Users\MMS\AppData\Roaming\gnupg\secring.gpg
--decrypt C:\Users\MMS\AppData\Local\Temp\batDC2A.tmp

So path and filename of public and secret keyring is sent with the call -
and it works.

So the question: Why doesn't send TheBat! this key-information in an
Windows XP installation?
