Re: Is this a problem?
Hello Ira, just a side note: I am sure you have already discovered the advantages of relevant subject lines. That is the sort of thing when the subject doesn't just say "Wow pic!", but actually "Cool - zebra rides an elephant". In the same way, I imagine, people would have a much easier time referring to your email if the subject included a short description of the topic, such as "TheBat! sends two HTML attachments, one completely empty" and not just something the like of "Oh bug!". -- Best regards, Viktor Kabelacmailto:tbbeta-l...@kabelac.cz Current beta is 8.0.10.3 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Or, right click on the bat icon in the start menu, select "More" and then "Pin to taskbar" Hello Stuart, normally you'd go to the THE BAT! folder, right-click the exe to produce a shortcut, cut that out, paste it to the desktop and then drag it into the task bar. But the workaround you describe is the most comfortable and moreover the most elegant way to store the icon (the shortcut) in the taskbar. Because at least in Windows 10 that works like a charm also for other shortcuts that you before never got to fix in the taskbar by dragging it there! The old Quick Launch problem...
I have a recurring issue (and I can be quite a menace about that :-D): I have The Bat! in my quicklaunch bar (Windows 10, so I basically pinned it to the "taskbar"). There is no problem with .RAR updates, but the The Bat! installers destroy the icon every time. Running a The Bat! installer requires me to remove the quicklaunch icon and add it again, as described here: https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/2461919/program-icons-that-are-pinned-to-the-taskbar-may-be-missing-or-be-disp Atom had a similar issue a while back but they fixed it: https://github.com/atom/atom/issues/8858 I understand that this has something to do with application internals, probably something related to how Windows "registers" a new application, but is there a way to leave existing pinned icons intact when updating The Bat!? Filter Problem?
I've been noticing that message from one particular sender are often sent to the junk folder instead of going where the filter that matches both the subject and the sender (though the filter is set to the OR of either one.) This doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it has been happening often enough that I need to ask a question: What happens first: Filtering or Junk Checking? I have the Regula anti-spam plug-in and, overall, have been very happy with it, so this is more of a curiosity than a problem. I think I can correct it by adding the automated account that sends me the daily report that is having trouble to my address book (and thereby whitelisting it for the anti-spam plug-in.) I'm still curious about the order of evaluation, though. It certainly /looks/ like the anti-spam is run BEFORE any of my filters. I wonder if it would be possible (and useful) to be able to have the anti-spam and anti-virus plug-ins listed in the filters so that we could move some of our own special exceptions before or after them? -- Steven Vallière | tb 5.3.6.2 (BETA) | mailto:the...@e-visions.com -- If you didn't write it down, then it didn't happen. -Larry Zana Current beta is 5.3.6.2 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: 5.1.6.6 - still has timezone offset problem
Hello Maxim, Correct calcluation of local time of a message received in Winter but displayed in Summer took much CPU time, especially under windows XP. That's why opening large folders was slow. We've modified the algorithm to open large folers so now the local time is calcluated only for a small number of messages displayed on screen, not the total number of messages in a folder as it was before. I think we're talking about a different problem then. The problem I'm reporting is the wrong timezone offset produced when composing an email. 5.0.36.2 correctly adds an offset of +0100 but subsequent version use -0100. This is not dependent upon being shown in a folder as I can send to Gmail as see the problem there. Messages coding problem in v5.1.2 (Simplified Traditional Chinese ; Polish)
Hi, I'm a bit confused with: View-Character Set in the main drop down menu on the main window and Right Mouse Click-Encoding option on the message window when it's opened. Will call later on first one A) and second one B). Message is in UTF-8 ; OS is English. What is a difference between them? Shouldn't just setting A be enough? Now to display properly Simplified message I need NOT TO modify A (let TB! to detect it) BUT additionally I need to set B. However, there are following issues for Simplified Chinese: - if A is set to autodetect Chinese Simplified messages I have are displayed in Cyrillic (embedded graphics in messages is replaced by Cyrillic strings as well). - if TB! B section is set to AutoDetect almost each Simplified Chinese (S_CHN) message is displayed improperly (A is detected as UTF-8 - proper ; B was set by default to Western European (Windows) - AutoDetect Option was not active). If you turn off AutoDetect and turn it on - message is displayed properly. When you go to other message and back to that one it's wrong again up to the moment it's manually corrected. For some reasons TB! first AutoDetect identifies it as GB2312 but second AutoDetect (manual one) identifies it as UTF-8 (that is proper). - After message is manually re-AutoDetected and clicked twice to open, previously selected encoding is reset to GB2312 despite that it was just properly re-AutoDetected. After re-AutoDetected again it's good again. - After above properly re-AutoDetected message is reply message is coded in UTF-8 but probably Chinese characters were again enforced to GB2312 and that makes all Chinese part unreadable while Reply to. TRADITIONAL CHINESE I was not able to properly display a message coded in GBK. Some characters were replaced by question marks. For some reasons TB! detected it as UTF-8 while it's coded in GBK. --Apple-Mail-71-707530316 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/plain; charset=GBK Reply to such message scrambles all message as it was detected as UTF-8 and TB! codes it in UTF-8 while it's in GBK.
