Yeah it does make sense. That's the way I've had to make changes to
view modes.

BT report is at: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5142

Since one of the recent versions there have been choices under the
Options/Preferences/Messages/View Modes as to how changes to
the View Modes are handled. They are:
  Ask Confirmation
  Ignore changes
  Save

If you have the checkmark beside Ignore changes it will act as you
 say.

Mine is set to Ask confirmation for save, which also does not appear
to work, because it has never asked me for a confirmation to save when
I change anything, in regards to View Modes, and then click OK.

Since my last post I have added three different View Modes. All are
set to Ask confirmation for save and not one has asked for any such
confirmation. So I don't know, but something seems amiss in regards to
View Modes here.

Yes this is odd. Do you have View/Global View Mode/ set to none. This
is also essential.

Yes, it's set to (no view mode) as there is no option that says none,
but I'm assuming that's what you meant.

RS Yes, it's set to (no view mode) as there is no option that says none,
RS but I'm assuming that's what you meant.

You no what they say the word assume, it makes an ass out of u and
me. Well it just made an as out of me. :(

I just reread your initial message and I quote If I go into Message
List Columns. I had assumed that you meant you could not make any
changes, but you actually meant that you could not make changes by
going into Message List Columns. You are correct you cannot make
changes in here that stick and I agree that it is a bug.

As a work around, try right clicking on the header columns, select
manage viewmodes, and then select the mode you want to change. Make
your changes and they should stick. You can also make changes, like
sort order by clicking on the headers and that will stick also
depending on your setting for saving changes.

Hope this makes sense and if you want to report it as a bug I will
confirm it.

Message Columns not sticky

2005-09-23 Thread Ron Secord
Hello TBBETA,

If I go into Message List Columns by right clicking on message
columns, and make any changes, those changes are not kept after
shutdown or even changing to another folder and then back.

Does anyone know if this issue has been discussed before? I just
noticed it here and will file a BT report, if one hasn't already been
reported.

The only entry that I have is Generic View Mode. I have always been
able to re-size the header widths, delete ones I don't want, etc. and
it would stay as I left it, now it doesn't.
