 I have a standing connection to an IMAP-Server (fastmail.fm).Everytime

When I power up again, The Bat gives a message in thebat_exceptions (and
 sometimes in ex_log) about that.

I get these often and for no apparent reason. My PC does not go to
standby. Both TB and Courier both see an unexpected connection.

UPDATE

I have a Wireshark trace on this and it appears that the server sends

I am now pretty convinced that it is a TLS error because I've now

Does anyone else get random disconnect exceptions when using TLS/SSL?

I can kind of confirm that;
clicking on a folder in which is new mail, often TB spontaneously
compact the folder and deletes old messages first, then the new
messages are shown in the folder pane correctly but the messagefield
itself is empty.
After clicking on some other folder and then going back to the previous

I definitely like to see IDLE'ing in the INBOX (as I use TB filters

Yes it could be configurable. However it should default to current
mailbox.

It's not like only few power users have server side filtering. Most
business users have it, especially if they use Exchange. Major
filtering rules are usually set up by server administrator globally
(e.g. [SPAM] filtering into Spam folder). Also on IMAP users can have
access to other users' mailboxes where mail arrives too.

In addition, using IDLE command on currently selected mailbox is
consisten behaviour with other email clients. And there is a good
reason why, in IMAP phylosophy INBOX is just another mailbox, it
really makes no sense to assume that mail will arrive there. Even the
name for it is configurable and it can be named whatever you want.

With the rise of Gmail IMAP, most people assume that IMAP
is just another email protocol. But it is really completely new point
of view to how email works. It is good of course that Google is
pushing it to mainstream, however I hope that some day it will be much
more than just pop3 on streroids.

Yes, even if you offer extra features, there will be some who are
never satisfied. That is unfortunately true in some ways in our U.S.
culture in general. There is a fine line between 1) using technology to be
helpful
to human well-being - and 2) technology becoming an addiction for its
own sake, like alcohol, drugs or tobacco.

The good news - developing compassionate relationships with all people
(from the saints to the criminals) can never be a loss but only a
gain. We still need jails for some people, of course, but they are
still worthy of compassion, just like our best friends.

never satisfied.

MM What's new in 5.0.18.12 since 5.0.18.11:
MM [-] When The Bat! was unregistered, there were a question mark in
MM the About box in a place where in the registered version the key validity
information was given
MM [!] When The Bat! trial expires completely, it no longer exits
MM but simply disables connections (e.g. to send and receive mail).
MM The user is still able to read, print or export messages, address book
items or other data
MM [-] On IMAP, when multiple connections were allowed, each
MM subsequent connection is created not earlier than one second since
MM last connection, to avoid overload, especially when multiple
MM connections are configured and they are failing and creating over and over
again
MM [+] The Bat! now have a limit of number of TCP/IP connections
MM created per second, to prevent extra connections created
MM simultaneously from being dropped by Windows (if configured so) or
MM by a router. By default, this value is 10 and can be changed in
MM Windows Registry, key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!, value
MaxConnectionsPerSecond.
MM [-] Status and priority wasn't displayed in the Connection Center for
certain IMAP tasks
MM [+] (#0008351) When The Bat! completes all IMAP tasks, it selects
MM INBOX and idles in this folder, to be able to receive
MM notifications about new messages before refreshing all the folders
MM [-] Fixed glitches of the background of text in the Connection Center

Up and running fine. I have NOT however, verified all of the above
fixes.

As always, I am so impressed with the RitLabs team! I hope that you

Re: 5.0.18.12 Threads no longer sorting

2011-07-23 Thread Rick
I just received a reply to a message from earlier in the day.
Before this version the thread would sort to the bottom of todays
emails (according to my settings) Now the reply does not cause it to sort

I am sorting by received date

 Any confirmations?

And then another reply came in and the thread sorted correctly. Go figure.

SOmething to watch
