Hi,

R It is a beta test group in order to FIND these issues so they
R can be fixed. They have fixed a TON of issues and rewritten the program.

And came up with _this_?

I think once and for all it has been proven that at least one of the
following is true:

- You can't write a complex program using Delphi.

- RIT can't maintain a program of TheBat's complexity.

How long has it been from the last v4 to the first v5 release? A year?
And this is supposed to be the result? Come on!

R We all want the bat to keep getting better and better :)

We don't want to write it ourselves. And RIT obviously can't handle
the job either.

Maybe you better watch in your face attitude and stop knocking Ritlabs
down like this.
I believe at least half the world is full of people who know how things
are not done...strangely there seem to be few great complex products
actually done by those.

Ritlabs do a terrific job, they still have a terrific program around. I
believe that's why you are on this list, too.
Yes, they have been concentrating on too much fancy stuff rather than to get
existing stuff work right (IMAP, the HTML editor is still a joke). Yes, I have
been doing my share of whining around for functional IMAP, for example.

Yes, the guy who decided to ship this present V5 (what funny connotations
does this have, hopefully the damage won't be as large) should get his bottom
lit up, but none of that is a reason to present Ritlabs as a buch of high
school janitors. So it's up to them to learn from this, up to us to wait for a
real
release...only in your facing is not going to help anyone.

Calm down and enjoy the beautiful week-end.

Does it look to you that RIT would be up to the job?

This is not an insult. It's an observation.

VK Ritlabs do a terrific job, they still have a terrific program around.

I see, that answeres the question. You obviously have a different
expectation to software than me. My playing days are over. I expect
software to actually work.

VK Calm down and enjoy the beautiful week-end.

You did realize that I hardly wrote a single mail during the whole v5
beta phase? I intentionally held back even though what had been
presented was of abysmal quality. It was work in progress, maybe
improvements were just around the corner. When it suddenly became
clear that they actually intended to release _this_, no further
comment had been necessary, either.

It was RITs one and only chance to regain some trust and reputation.
They blew it, big time.

Maybe, just *maybe* and *sometimes* it's better to speak up when you just
get the hint of a suspicion that things may not be going quite the way
you'd like them to, than to *expect* and be disappointed.

There are lot's of us who are disappointed and I'm in the process of
going back to 4.2. Too many inconveniences exist and are being ignored
to date by the developers.

In particular, my gripes and inconveniences are:

1) Forward a message and the cursor starts in the body of the message
text rather than To

2) Open the address book and the cursor is on Search Results rather
than Personal Address Book.

3) Ctl + Del used to delete all messages and put them in the Trash
folder. A handy way to delete all messages and keep them around.
Someone changed this move (unannounced) to permanently delete
messages. I can't get used to change and the lack of any convenient
substitute and have lost messages as a result.

I'm going back to 4.2 until I see another beta release which addresses
these three inconvienent issues. Then I'll think about beta testing
again.
