Connection Center Hanging (cont.)
This little problem (the connection centre hanging) has only begun affecting me for the last few weeks. Until then the CC was working like a dream... I can't think of any config changes I made to encourage it. And it seems to occur at random on different accounts, ie different accounts hang at different times, though they are always accounts with the same POP server. Re:Rogue emails on this TBUDL
This was mentioned earlier. His mails carry the 'SOBIG' marker of X-MailScanner: Found to be clean. If you are filtering on that, add a Sender: Angliss ... No filter. JA It shouldn't be any more... I changed mail server and the new mail JA scanner uses a different header. If it's still picking up that one, JA then I've probably messed up a setting somewhere. However, if a filter JA on X-Mailscanner can kill TB dead, might that be considered a big JA bug? This one managed to download without any complaint. I use Sophos AV for NT. What happened was that the download just stopped on previous Angliss emails, and required killing the Bat from the task list. I guess it might be an AV problem rather than a BAT problem. Re: iPac Sync
Hi Ricardo: RvE I just heard that everyone at our company is getting an Compaq iPaq RvE 1915. Main reason of course, so we all can sync our e-mail and RvE agenda/appointments with our laptops and so on. But I'm one of few RvE who's not using LookOut. Does anyone know if its possible to sync RvE with The Bat!? Plugings, third party software, what ever... The RvE iPaq runs Windows CE. I have not heard/confirmed the possibility to sync theBat! with PocketPC's. I have heard of the ability to sync theBat! with Palm Software (see threads on 8/11 and 8/13). However, one concern for Palm Users was the inability to sync to folders other than the Inbox. Given that one of theBat!'s main features is filtering e-mails to folders, the inability sync particular folders was a great disappointment. There are several other Bat! users who want/need this functionality to sync theBat! mails with PocketPc's. Every so often I do a Google search to see if someone has worked on this a project that would sync theBat! with PocketPCs. So far, no luck. If and when I come across any info, I will post it. Let us know if you come across any solutions. - Ricardo Using The Bat! v2.0 Beta/1 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 1.62r | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

So, some investigation is needed here :-) I understand that people on our support may fail sometimes before they become more experienced, but my impression about them in general is good. TF Where/when does it hang? Connecting to server? well yes, connecting to host DR Do you happen to have a firewall installed? or an antivirus with mail DR checking installed? or a spam checker installed? Is it possible that DR the POP server verifies the e-mail while you download the messages? yes I have Zone Alarm and a hardware wall (I keep ZA to monitor outgoing traffic). My McAffee AV has Outlook email scanning enabled, and its 'download and email scanning' enabled. I have no spam checker, and I don't know about the POP server verifying the email while I download the messages. Should I? As I said, I haven't made any configuration changes, that I am aware of, to the bat or to ZA or my anti-virus. As I'm writing this the connection center has been connecting to host for over 10 minutes to the pop server at postmark.net (I have 4 accounts here). They were working fine together and then the problems started. It therefore took me a long time to pin down the cause. I just never suspected ZA. Be that as it may, like myself, those who reported these problems also cured their problems by switching to another firewall. You may just be one of the fortunates who has been doing ok with it. The problems seem to be more common with NT based systems and for those who keep their machines running for extended periods between reboots. I think I'd still be using ZA if I rebooted my machine daily since my problems with it were always cured with a reboot and the problems would restart after a few days without rebooting. - -- -= allie_M =- | List Moderator PGPKeys: http://www.ac-martin.com/pgpkeys.html _ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: PGP SDK 3.0.2 iQA/AwUBP0e5n1fJ62ArBxfiEQLcXwCfUEVo+1JH0FanNLZjGfBYLnQrCOEAoMNY TBP5B4NNFB7zbp4VmZtJ/8mu =khVA -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current version is 1.62r | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
