Hi MAU,

How many of those did you report in BT (Bug Tracker).

Over the years - three, if I remember correctly. The first should
have been some time 2005. Last time I checked, it was still listed as
new and unassigned.

So I stopped fiddling with the awkward system and rather reported to
the mailing list. Developers are reading there, and they can't fail to
notice the report. If they want to manage it further, they can do
so themselves.

If you did, it would be good if you post the links to them.

You want me to make the effort twice? Either the list _or_ the tracker.
And since the tracker apparently doesn't get much attention, the list.

Hello Dwight,

IMAP: Occasionally tasks will never finish. Sometimes they are
benign, that is, their hanging at least doesn't block anything,
sometimes some or all folders can't be displayed any more (message
 list empty)
Have encountered this occasionally. Not really a show stopper to me.

It forces a restart of TheBat. If this happens frequently it is a
real bother, especially since TheBat doesn't notify you that it has
just locked up, naturally. If you don't check it yourself every ten
minutes you can never be sure that it is indeed still working and
alerting you about incoming mail.

IMAP: Folders duplicate. In v3-versions I've just been seeing
Trash.1 (sometimes it is deletable, sometimes it isn't), in v4
other folders duplicate with the exact same name (Outlook created a
folder named Junk, TheBat copied it four times already (deletable)
Have not encountered this in a very long time.

Happened to me this morning.

IMAP: Unable to manage folders. Right-click on folder: Mark as read
and Empty are greyed out. Switch back and forth between this and
other folders, eventually the options will be available.
Not seeing this today, never seen it before. Mark as read not
 available when folder is empty.

I installed v4 on Friday afternoon and have been seeing it back then
already, though I didn't pay much attention to it. Today I had to,
because it occured regularily: Messages were displayed in msg list
window, yet neither Mark as read nor Empty on the folder were
available.

IMAP: Folder shows now messages (in message list), but still count is
non zero. Select Mark all read (folder right-click context menu),
 usually the count will zero.
I guess you mean 'no messages.'

Of course, sorry.

This is the most pervasive flaw in TB! IMAP

Ironically, this is the one from the pack I could rather live with. ;-)

Mail check: Check will cease after some time, new messages will no
longer be announced nor displayed, even on manual folder change.
Restart required to get it working again. (Observed with last v3
 release, not yet with v4)
Long time since I was running version 3, so no comment. History now
 anyway.

Indeed, with v4 it hasn't occured here yet, either.

Hi John,

 Care to list them?

Ah yes, the gags of this morning:

- Came in to notice that some messages that I sent yesterday in fact
hadn't been sent. Instead, they were lingering in the Outbox -
several times each. I hit send all, one less. Hit send again,
nothing more happened, though there were still some messages there. I
fiddled around with it some more, which I believe resulted in sending
some duplicates, but couldn't send them all. I tried to delete them,
didn't work either. Then I chose unpark and then deleted them, now
at least the Outbox is empty again. I have no idea which of the
messages were actually sent and how often that might have occured.

- I wrote a message, sent it and after some time noted that it, too,
still lingered in the Outbox. This time, however, there was an error
in the log Could not export message.

I deleted v4. This is not acceptable.

Time Zone Conversion Error?

2008-02-12 Thread Barry
Hi all

I'm trying to figure whether the 'Created' date conversion from one time zone
to the other is a Bat problem. This is the Created Date field data:

14 January 2000, 23:09:00 (11-Feb-2008 15:42:09 CET)

I'm assuming that the email is created in the CET time zone, hence the date
in brackets, and that the date shown as 14 January 2000, 23:09:00 is the
date converted to my time zone, which should be GMT.

Is this a function of Windows, TheBat! or a bit of both?

How do I get it to show the correct date?

It is a function of TB, but it looks from the above as though it is
not correctly formatted in the original message itself. To check,
highlight the message and then press CTRL-SHIFT-K to show the
headers. Then find the header that starts with Date:, copy the
entire line and paste in an email for us to see. The format should be
Date: DDD, DD MMM HH:mm:ss ZZZ

For instance, in your email the header says
Date: Tue, 12 Feb 2008 09:26:28 GMT

How do I get it to show the correct date?

If the problem is an incorrect format, you can export the file to a
unix mailbox format, edit the format to correct it and then re-import
the message. If you are more daring you could edit the messages.tbb
file in the appropriate mail folder directly, but that is more risky.

Set default spell check language or use Makro

2008-02-12 Thread Martin Schuster
Hello Tbbeta,

I have the following macro in my quicktemplates to
switch to the german spell checker:

%LANGUAGE=CSAPI GN%-

That worked in 3.99.29, but does not work any more in 4.0.11.

CSAPI is installed (I can see a corresponding tab in the spellchecker
options) and I can select German as spell checker language in the
status bar (I can't tell if this the CSAPI spellchecker or the SSCE,
though).

Just for information: in my Speller folder in TB's program folder I
have the following files:

accent.tlx
correct.tlx
Ssceam.tlx
Ssceam2.clx
UserDic.TLX

No german dictionaries here, so I guess I am using CSAPI when I
switch to German.

So any ideas what the correct syntax is for a makro to set the german
CSAPI automatically again, or is there a setting somewhere to tell TB
to use a specific dictionary as default?

It should read something like:
Date: 11 Feb 2008 15:42:09 CET

A more complete specification for the date syntax can be found in RFC 2822 (the
Internet
message format standard). In summary, it allows for:
   * optional day-of-the-week (3 character) followed by a comma
   * 1 or 2 digit day number
   * 3 character month name
   * 4 digit year (although it allows for the obsolete 2 digit year
  form)
   * 2 digits each of hour, minute and seconds, separated by :
   * Timezone expressed as + or - followed by 4 digits (although it
allows for a range of obsolete codes including 3 character
  codes like CET)

What it doesn't permit is the - between the date elements that you
have identified above.

If the problem is an incorrect format, you can export the file to a

Spelling language settings

I have a language setting in my template which no longer works - I set it

I also had two buttons to change the language when necessary, but these don't

How do I get the language in the template to work, and how can I restore my

Now when I move a message in that view the message is moved, but the

until I restart TB.

In normal folder lists (that is, not using the Addresses tab) the
folder column is immediately updated after the move.

Hope you understand what I mean.

if You open message with winmail.dat/message.att, attachments extrancted

If You see winmail.dat/message.att only, You can install separate app

Hi MAU,

I get most of my TNEF email's from a subscription service. They also place the
content of the email in a plain text part int he email.
The bat will show that and not show the attachment. You can see this because
the formatting is missing in the plain text part.

I cant find a way to display the winmail.dat section in TB.
I am using winmail opener to see the attachment now.
