I couldn't get Thunderbird to talk at all. It won't accept the pw for some reason, and I've kind of given up on it. Not only do I not like it, but I don't understand it and I don't have the time to mess with it :-/ > The things that cause problems for me are accounts with lots of > folders or lots of accounts to check at the same time, particularly > when there are messages waiting in several of them. There are several accounts - but all but the one with the problem are POP accounts, and all are working fine as of this writing. Most have lots of folders, including this IMAP account. But .. the only one with problems is the IMAP account :-/ > You could play around with some of the settings in > Properties|Mail Management|IMAP Fine Tune at account level and see > whether that makes a difference. Well, so far that hasn't accomplished anything. I have managed to move all the messages to the trash folder, (the delete key worked where the delete button on the interface did not) where for some reason I can read them. I can't move any to any other folder, however, and none of the filters work on that account. > There is a new version of IMAP for The Bat in the works, and hopefully > this will address some of the current issues. I hope so. In the meantime, has anyone ever managed to fix a filter problem like this one? There are filters specific to this account, as well as a common filter which combs about 3 of them, the other accounts being POP accounts. Will be glad to provide any other info you like, if you think it will help. tia - -- Lynn :Hawthorne: :usflag: :canadaflag: theli...@comcast.net * * *Aun Aprendo I'd rather be WARP'ed* * * Team OS/2 Windows 6, Build 7600 4.2.36.4 Current version is 4.2.23 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Actually, there might be - try enabling SMTP authentication, many ISPs allow you to send the message then. Alas no combination of tics at ACCOUNT>PROPERTIES>SEND MAIL(Authentication) would allow me to send mail. I guess I'll just have to continue using the Charter server from Firefox. Inelegant, true, but it gets the job done. My thanks to all who tried to help. Jack Current version is 4.2.23 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

The message is pretty clear that the server will not accept traffic from an IP that's not assigned to Charter, so if the motel uses some other ISP, there's no way to get around it. If sending an Email is urgent, you might try using a webmail interface instead of TB -- or opening a gmail or other account that WOULD accept traffic from the motel's ISP. -- Jim Kyle Using The Bat! v4.2.36.4 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3 on VMWare Server 2 under Xubuntu 8.04.3 with AntiSpamSniper Version 3.2.4.5 Current version is 4.2.23 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Motel error message
Mornin' Bats! I have the misfortune to be stuck in a motel for the next several days and am communicating via a threadbare data cable provided by the motel. This place is too old to have WIFI. Anyway, I tried to use TB! and found that I had no trouble fetching messages but when I tried to SEND a message I got the following response from TB!: !10/30/2010, 21:16:48: SEND - Server reports it is not ready, reply: "imp10 smtp.charter.net MjA5LjE1NS4xNzcuMjUy You must connect from Charter IP space. E1110" Anybody have any idea what this means and how I can get past it? TIA, Jack Current version is 4.2.23 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
