Just-In-Time Spell Checker

2004-05-19 Thread John Cunnane
Hi All,

I'm brand new to this list and so, please excuse me if I start asking
questions which you have discussed before.
First one up is why does the Just-In-Time spell checker only work if I
use the Plain Text (MicroEd) message editor? If I use another editor,
e.g. the Plain Text (Windows) option, the option for 'Automatic
Checking Ctrl+F4' is no longer available. Any ideas why this is so?

HTML Links

2004-05-21 Thread John Cunnane
Hi All,

Another couple of problems which you may have discussed on the list
before but I would be grateful for any advice.

1. If I click on an html link in the message preview window, it simply
goes to the top of the message. If I click on the link a second time,
then it opens my browser (IE6) as normal. Not a big problem but why
is this?
2. If I reply to a message which contains a html link and quote the
original text, then all instances of the '&' character (without the
quotes) in the original link get replaced by the space character in
the new message. Obviously, the link no longer works in the new
message. This is a much bigger problem for me and so, any ideas why
this happens and is there any way that I can stop it?

Both look like a bug i your version of TB. In my 2.04.03 both function
correctly.

Does anyone else see these problems in v2.10.03?

Re[2]: HTML Links

2004-05-21 Thread John Cunnane
Hi All,

I believe that we can agree with my first point that clicking on a
HTML link in the preview pane takes you to the top of the message on
the first click and then opens the browser on the second. I assume
that this is a bug and not a feature?

As for the '&' characters in a HTML link when Reply is used, I would
be grateful if you could reply to this message and check the following
link in the quoted text. If the bug is present, the '&' characters in
the link will be replaced by spaces and the link will no longer work.

Hi Robin,

raoca> This didn't occur, but because you didn't send your message as HTML. I
raoca> have experienced it often, that a message written in HTML and containing
raoca> the & character (coded as & in the HTML) loses this in the reply. In
raoca> general TB! is not good at quoting text that was in HTML in the original.

Thanks for pointing this out. This is exactly my problem. Replying to a HTML mail
with the MicroEd editor makes the & character disappear from any HTML link.

Re[2]: link wrapping

2004-05-27 Thread John Cunnane
TF> No, TB doesn't do that. I know that other email clients break URLs
TF> when displaying and cause problems, but not TB. That's one of the
TF> beauties of TB.

If the original mail was sent in HTML format and you reply in a plain
text format such as MicroEd, then The Bat! seems to have a big problem
with certain characters in a URL, e.g. the & character which it
replaces with a space character. Hence, if you use MicroEd to reply to
a HTML mail, you may well find that the link is 'broken' and it wraps
round because it now contains spaces.

Collapse All Threads - How?

2004-05-27 Thread John Cunnane
Hi All,

Can someone explain to me how to collapse all threads in a message
list. I know that Shift+Ctrl+* expands all threads but what's the
reverse?

Hi Peter,

PM> That's odd. Your shortcut works for collapsing all threads here. For
PM> expanding it is +...

Don't know why it went weird. My keyboard response became very strange
and a re-boot has fixed it. All works fine now and the shortcuts work
as you say. Thanks for the help.
