Also on tab Options check Execute via Hot-key (or similar name)

You might set rule to inactive, and Manual only to prevent

You might try filtering messages to a inbox. If you use kludges as

Warning! First worm that hits TB! too...

2001-04-28 Thread ANT-ilic

Hello Everybody!

Recently I found out about this worm so here goes some info
(hope you don't mind because I posted this to both lists):

Worm info

1. Beware of the Internet-worm Stator

The first harmful program spreading via the popular e-mail The Bat!
has been detected.

Kaspersky Lab, an international data-security software-development
company, warns users of the discovery in the wild of the first
Internet-worm, going by the name of Stator, utilizing the popular
e-mail client The Bat! in order to spread.

Because of advanced functioning facilities, flexible set-up, and
affordable price, The Bat! has become very popular amongst
experienced Internet users in the past few years, particularly in
Central and Eastern Europe. Until recently, the main advantage of this
e-mail program was the absence of any harmful code in its
applications.

In essence, Stator is simply the continuation of the computer
underground attacking users, proving the well-known rule that the more
popular the application, the more attention virus writers will pay to
it, commented Denis Zenkin, Head of Corporate Communications for
Kaspersky Labs.

Protection against the Stator Internet-worm has already been added
to the KasperskyTM Anti-Virus daily database update. Users, especially
those using The Bat!, are highly recommended to download this latest
update.

Technical Details

This Internet-worm utilizes the e-mail client The Bat! in order to
spread. It gains access to the database, searches for the e-mail
addresses contained there, and sends out its copy to them in the form
of an attachment to an e-mail.

The worm's copy contains the name photo1.jpg.pif and contains the
photo of an unknown young woman sitting next to a likeness of the
well-known MacDonald's restaurant mascot, Ronald MacDonald. The
message body is written in Russian in the Cyrillic alphabet.

The translated text appears as follows:

  Hello!

Your address was given to me by a common friend of ours (the first
address that came to his mind)
I am a newcomer to the Internet and have just got this mailbox!
So this is the very first time I am writing an e-mail!!!
He said that if I had any questions, I could ask you...
I am pretty cute and sociable.
(have a look at the photo)
I'm waiting for a reply from you!!!
Write me a bit about yourself and what you would like to know about
me.
  Good bye! Good bye!
  :)

  Sveta Kovaleva

The worm also installs itself to the system and infects a few files in
the system, as well as sends passwords and other confidential
information out of the computer.

To hide its activity the worm displays a JPEG image of a girl.

For more technical details, visit the Kaspersky Virus Encyclopedia
(http://www.viruslist.com/eng/viruslist.asp?id=4188key=100013100072).
/Worm info

So everyboy, take care...

I saw in registry that there are few extensions/filename's that might
be a virus which are kind of protected... It might be nice to add few more
manually, without editing registry...

P.S. When will 1.52 final arive?

I'm not sure, but he might try something someone mentioned about
striping HTML...

I think idea is to set in actions to Forward to or Create message

created...

I played a little with this, but not for a long time... I don't know
if it will help at all...

RM What would have been a better way to do this?

A question: Are headers present in a digest mode?
Maybe is possible using regex and templates to insert Message-ID and
few other filed into your reply...

Or maybe something using selecting whole message and copying to
clipboard and then using regex...

Can you mail me a few complete messages (not a whole digesst :) just
to see how it looks like... You could also ask a question on this on
TB TECh... Its sleepy, anyway...

PP Hello the list,

PP I've noticed since few days that shift+ctrl+M shortcut (mark

PP Any idea ?

Same here... Sometimes... It seem to work only from message list, not
when focus is on a preview pane... Also I noticed that it stoped
working after a lot of Ctrl+]...

Try using Space and Alt+Up/Down Arrow for scrolling preview message
pane, while focus on message list...

PP Thank you for any help

PP I run TB!(fr) under french Win2K.

Mine is Win97 (95 OSR2).

Take a look at TBUDLs archive. There is a solution for this with two
filters. It works great for me...

P.S. If you can't find it, contact me and I'll send you...

Re[2]: Stripping HTML from message.

2001-02-10 Thread ANT-ilic

Hello Thomas,

Thursday, February 08, 2001, 5:03:10 AM, you wrote:

T The cc recipients of the original message get lost. Instead of hitting
T Reply All, you'll have to look in the old message and put them in
T manually. I wonder if

T Original Recipients: TO: %OToList
T CC: %OCcList

T in the macro would work. This way, you need to only cp.

I worked on this (in my limited knowlegde of macros) and I think this
is as as close to original as I know how to get it:

template
The following note has had HTML formatting automatically
stripped:
---

%text

%TO= %OToList
%CC= %OCcList
%Replyto= %OREPLYADDR
%org= %OORGANIZATION
%SUBJECT= %OSUBJ
/template

Those are macros that are known to me (from help-"template macros")...
Maybe there are more header-related macros so someone else can fill up
here...

Also if a "Reply to All" is used the message will be sent to my-self
too... That's a side-effect I noticed... Maybe some of regex's gurus
can solve this... Or maybe in Reply template?

For just-to-be-sure set "Move messages to folder" to, lets say
"Backup of HTML's", if anything goes wrong...

Hope we can make this work, 'cause its nice to keep just relevant
parts of messages in personal archives...

P.S. I found few messages of type: "Content-Type: multipart/related;"
that don't contain text part of messages? I thought that TB! generates
text parts (or it is generated by senders mail client?)...

Which type of multipart messages can this be used for?
