H is it possible to export and import filters?

In addition to the advice about copying and pasting between
accounts, you can also copy and then paste into Notepad or other

I just have a new computer.
Is it also possible to import filters I used on my previous computer

(I used the same version of the Bat.)

The Bat with IMAP: mail does not appear in 'sent items'

2010-06-18 Thread Laura

Hi there,

I feel that The Bat still does not handle IMAP very well.

I'm regularly experiencing this problem:
I write an email and click on 'send' (or I use Ctrl-Enter).
The mail goes to my Outbox.
After a while it still is in my Outbox, and not in my 'Sent mail', so
I suspect the mail cannot be sent.
So I send the message again. So some people received my mail again a
few minutes or an hour later.

So I checked the log, and this is what it says (I changed the
To-address to addr...@gmail.com, this is an example from May 5, but I
had this problem again after that, many times):

5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - Initiating TLS handshake
5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - Certificate S/N: 5A65CDF1, algorithm: RSA

AM, for 2 host(s): *.dds.nl, dds.nl.
5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - Owner: *.dds.nl, Domain Control Validated,

5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - TLS handshake complete
5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - connected to SMTP server
5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - authenticating (plain)...
5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - sending message to addr...@gmail.com
!5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - Could not store message into the folder
\\Laura-dds-IMAP\Sent Mail
5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - message to addr...@gmail.com sent (1567
bytes)
5-5-2010, 07:48:58: SEND - connection finished - 1 messages sent

So I'm guessing the message was sent after all. (Although it is still
in the Outbox and not in the Sent Items.) My friend, to whom I sent
the message, confirmed that he received it.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Someone in the Dutch mailinglist about The Bat sent me a quote from
the mailinglist for Beta-testers on April 11:
We will review it after IMAP will be working properly, and I don't
know how long can it take.
The next (Beta-)version of The Bat would have an improved IMAP
management, and there would be no new Beta-versions untill all the
problems with IMAP are solved.

Does anyone know when this will be?

Thanx in advance,

Hi Raymund,

I feel that The Bat still does not handle IMAP very well.

Welcome to the club. Luckily version 5 is on its way.

Very good to hear! I'm looking forward to it!

 I'm regularly experiencing this problem:
I write an email and click on 'send' (or I use Ctrl-Enter).
The mail goes to my Outbox.

I guess you use Remote Outbox as I experienced the same problem till
I decided to use local outbox instead.

That is a very good advice! I changed the setting right away, don't
know why I even set it to Remote Outbox in the first place!
It seems to help.

Does anyone know when this will be?

Maxim announced RitLabs will provide an alpha build soon.

Thank you very much for this information and the advice!

message time format

2008-01-15 Thread Laura
Hi all,

I have special preferences about the display of date and time for my
messages. For instance I like this format: Mon 14 Jan 2008 21:38.
Except for today. If a message was received today I like this format
(for instance): 13:17.

The Bat! can do that. That's good. (It is in Preferences - Date/Time;
in my case the Default message time format needs to be ddd d mmm
t, and Display time for today's messages using this format is
just t. I check the box.)

But for some strange reason The Bat! does not remember this last
option (today's format). So every day when I start The Bat! I have to
fill in t again. The box stays checked.

Can I do something to help The Bat! remember?

Thanx in advance!

Hi Marck,

L Does anyone know how I can reach them? The problem is still quite
L anoying...

The best way is probably through the online forum at
 http://www.ritlabs.com/en/forum/.

Thank you. I may try that.

Before you go, it is behaving as though the folder structure file
 has become read-only.

Aha! That can be the problem?
I checked, and the account.flb-file in the main mailfolder as well as
the account.flb-file in the folder of the account where the problem
occurs are not read-only.
But when I click the folder of account where the problem occurs and
check the properties, the 'read-only'-checkbox has a grey marker, as
if some of the subfolders or files are read-only.
I unchecked it, and told windows (xp, pro) to apply that to all
subfolders and files, but the problem still occurs.
The marker is stil there, too.

Windows does that all the time. I tell it to apply it to all the
subfolders, make them all read-only, or none of them, and it seems to
process that, but then the marker stays there...

If anyone knows what I can do next...?

I'll post it to the forum, too.

Hi everyone,

L Ever since I installed the latest version of The Bat, I have

L one of my accounts keep disappearing.

L They're still on my hard-disk. So if I try to create a new folder

L containing all the original messages. But then, when I close The

You could try the magic key combination Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L and all
 lost folders should reappear.

Thank you. But when I 'repair' the folders with the key combination
or as I explained above, they disappear again when I shut down The
Bat. They keep disappearing, so I'm afraid it's a bug.

I think someone should inform the team of developers at RitLabs. Are
 they on this list?

Is there still not a permanent solution for this problem?
It is quite irritating I have to hit Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L everytime I
start up the Bat...
(And the solution with the alternative account did not work either in
the end: I keep losing those folders as well, now, and who knows which
other folders...)

Does someone know if the the Bat-team is reading these e-mails?

Hi Chris,

Which editor are you using? MicroEd doesn't support Unicode input
at all. The Windows editor supports it to some degree (i.e., I
cannot enter text using Keyman, but I can at least copy and paste
 it).

On issue, however, is that The Bat! no longer hard-wraps the lines
to a reasonable width (which seems to be the preferred style here on
 TBUDL).

Yes, I noticed that, and that's the main reason I don't use the
windows editor although I would like that, because of the fonts.

I like the way the microEditor handles the wrapping of lines.

one thing I think would be helpful is a filter view (where all items are
in the common folders or default folder) but, also, retain where
they came from so that you could have a view that puts them back into
the account they came from... does that make sense?

thanks!

Changing Reply-to for one folder only

2000-03-10 Thread Laura Jennings-Blijleven

Hi Batties,

I am a member of several mailinglists, and some of the folks are not
technically savvy enough to figure out that they need to filter on the
"To:" address to make all messages to the list go into a separate
folder. One thing they have trouble with is that TB uses a different
format than most programs when replying to list mail - instead of
simply putting "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" in the To-field of the
reply, it puts "name of the original sender
[EMAIL PROTECTED]".

In Account/Properties I found a box "Do not use FROM for REPLY-TO
address". That worked to turn this feature off, but I'd like to do
this for just a few folders, not my entire account. Do you know if
there's a macro you can put in the templates of your specific folder
to achieve this?

Thanks,

Laura

JAL What does the numbers in square brackets mean?

They are generated by TB when you reply to a mail. Somebody thinks
this is good. So, the replies are not numbered when you receive them,
but the sender's TB already put them in there.

JA Just a picky point, but they may be numbered when you receive them.
JA If you get a message with Re[2]: and you don't use the %SINGLERE, then
JA when you reply, your TB will generate Re[3]:.

R put %TO="" %TO="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" into the folder-template.
R That'll do exactly what you want...

R The first %TO="" will clear the original contents of the field, while

R value would be added to the existing %to-contents)

Setting TB as default mail program

2000-02-28 Thread Laura Jennings-Blijleven

Dear list members,

First of all, my apologies for omitting a header above the first message I
sent (message earlier today about cursor movement). I'm a list master
myself, so that was a big booboo.

Now for the next question: I initially hadn't made TB my default mail
program, but after a couple of days I just laught at my pitiful old Eudora.
thing is, I can't find any instructions in the Help (either TB or Win 98)
on how to set TB as default. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Best regards,

Laura Jennings-Blijleven
