Re[2]: Duplicate messages
Hello Richard, RO RW Are you storing mail on the server? If not try to do so for a day. RW I only store it for two days anyway :-( I've had a similar problem in the past. Once in awhile I'll get a message that causes TheBat to not do the right thing when downloading (the symptoms will vary, but what you described has happened before). Usually the problem I have is a task the Connection Centre not responding and never finishing. Regardless, I also leave my POP mail on the server for a few days before deleting it from the server. I've found that using the mail dispatch function of TheBat I can go in and manually delete the spam and that usually takes care of it. Once in awhile I will need to delete some of the mail I've already downloaded (turning off the leave mail on server option and getting mail once will likely have the same effect). I get hundreds of emails a day, and I've never had the time to delete them one at a time to try to isolate the one that causes the problem, I usually delete in batches of 100 or more until the problem goes away. Once the offending email is gone from the server, TheBat starts working normally again. I'm not 100% sure TheBat is the cause of the new-mail problem; it could be that the POP server is telling TheBat the wrong info (ie, all messages are new). Perhaps it is because TheBat never go the chance to tell the POP server to mark the messages as read. In any event, it seems like purging the messages fixes the immediate problem. -- James A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing. -- Emo Philips There are 10 types of people in the world. Duplicate messages
Hello, I'm not sure if this is a TB! problem but I don't know where to turn to so I'm and posting it here for starters. Since yesterday I have started getting duplicate mail. For instance, I've just been out for four hours and came back to see that three times in those four hours (I have TB! set to download new messages every 10 minutes) it had downloaded all the messages in my Message Box, 65 at the beginning and, five minutes ago, 78. I have not changed any settings in TB! but I did upgrade Outpost firewall yesterday evening, although the problem of the duplicates started occurring before I did that. The account log doesn't give any clue as to what is happening, it just says 13/01/2007, 22:57:07: FETCH - 75 messages in the mailbox, 75 new. It then downloads them all and, a short while later on, it does the same with the same messages plus any new ones. In between times it works perfectly, just downloading the new messages as it should. I do a scheduled full maintenance every night so was wondering if anyone would have any pointers. I've looked through the archives but can't find anything relevant to my situation. -- Regards, Richard | The Bat! 3.95.6 with POP3 account AntispamSniper 1.8.0.5 | Windows XP (build 2600) version 5.1 Service Pack 2 | F-Prot AV, Outpost Firewall Pro, Spysweeper, Adaware, SpyBot | CPU: Athlon 1.09 Ghz | RAM: 1024 MB Holiday in France: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lazyhomes/holiday.html Current version is 3.95.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: I get duplicate messages from local delivery
Um. I have a similar setup in two different client locations, one with 1.53d and one with 1.60h and both get duplicate (sometimes triplicate) messages at random times. I'd love to blame this on an ISP, but it's too erratic and happens with any of their several accounts. I've tried switching them between workstation without TCP/IP mode and workstation with TCP/IP mode to no avail. At one point I thought I had it narrowed down to the number of users simultaneously trying to send mail, but that didn't seem to be it either. Things seem to have quieted down lately, but every once in a while the system just burps. Even weirder, it happens with sent mail as well as received mail. There will actually be two identical copies of the sent messages in the sent folder. I'm ready to start blaming this on sunspots. -Mark [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thursday, May 16, 2002, 2:43:20 PM, you wrote: DM Ok I have the Bat set up in TCP/IP server mode on a computer with DM access to the Internet. Duplicate messages
Hello All For the last couple of days I have been getting a large number of multiple copies of messages from both this list and the Beta list. I noticed it first when I got about 5 copies of the announcement of the latest Beta version, though it may have been happening before that and I just didn't notice. Since then I've received varying numbers of copies of some, but not all, messages. This is only happening on these lists, not with any of my other mail, but it's happening on both my work computer, running 1.52 Beta/3 on W2K, and on my home computer running version 1.51 on WinNT (different ISP's as well). Is this happening to anyone else? Best regards Shauna -- Shauna Scott Vice President - Finance Administration Rocky Mountain Skiing Inc. This means that, next time TB MDP connects, it receives the same messages again. I don't think it can be either of those possibilities. They all say "You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED]" (the only address under which I've ever subscribed to any of the TB lists). Also, I'm getting the same duplicates on both my home and work systems, and several copies of a particular message come through on the same retrieval session. For example, I just got home and downloaded all my messages for the day (when retrieving at work I leave them on the server). I received (among others) 4 copies of your reply to Georg Omenitsch with the subject Re: Privacy X. I have the same 4 copies on my work computer (I deliberately didn't run the "kill dupes" command before I shut down at work so I could see if they showed up here). And, in fact, if I go into the message dispatcher, all 4 copies are shown on the server. -- Best regards, Shaunamailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
