I agree with this, I edit the default templates each time I create a new account. With variables that can get local info, I practically use a global template that is the same for each account. I also have many config settings that are the same on each account. Pretty much the only differences end up being individual mail transport stuff. Looking at Agent (newsgroup program by Forte) they have a default properties setting and then each group gets a properties setting with a check box that says override default. This lets all the groups be the same until I go in and change the individual ones. -- Scott Windows 2000 The Bat 2.04.7 Popfile Spam Filter http://popfile.sourceforge.net/ Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Stop checking email when the network disappears
How do I make The Bat stop checking email? My DSL (always on huh, right) has been temperamental lately and just goes off so I go off on the DSL people. When that happens, the 20+ email accounts that I check with The Bat just start beeping at me... and when it gets those errors, it seems to slow things down. So when I know there is an error with the network, how do I make The Bat quit trying to check email until I know the network is back?? Feature Request: A Stop sign like icon on the tool bar that stops all email checking activity, kind of like zone alarm. -- Scott Windows 2000 The Bat 2.04.7 Popfile Spam Filter http://popfile.sourceforge.net/ Current version is 2.10.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Mary Bull wrote: S How do I make The Bat stop checking email? Account/Properties/Options The problem is that is an account-specific setting. Scott's original post indicated 20 accounts. That would mean going through that process for each account - then turning around and doing it all over again when the connection was back on. Not exactly efficient! ;) As has been suggested before (in different flavors), some kind of global connection setting would be nice. IE (and MS mail client, too, I believe) has a Work Offline option that can be selected. This would be great for The Bat. -- Ken Green Using The Bat! v1.62r on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 4 Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

And global across all accounts would be a useful option for other account settings also. TB! is already so flexible and wonderful, but it could definitely be made more so. I've been requesting this ever since I started using The Bat. I have, at the moment, 34 email accounts - one for each web client and other for admin purposes. It is an absolute pain having to change any of the account settings across all those accounts.
