We release major The Bat! versions approximately every 12-24 months regardless
of the sub-version number. The currently sold licenses for v8 will not be
accepted by v9 when it is released. For the past versions we did post
announcements on the start of selling licenses for the next major version.
Currently we are still working on v8.

Upgrade Policy

2018-10-10 Thread Paul Meathrel
 Hi all

I am a TB user currently on 6.8.8, I am considering upgrading to the
latest, however the upgrade policy
<https://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/thebat/upgrade-policy.php> is putting
me off. It states that:

*The Bat! license purchased from August 22, 2017 is valid for all The Bat!
versions 7 and all The Bat! versions 8. For The Bat! v9.0 and higher these
licenses will no longer be valid. *

Given that TB is current on 8.6.x it looks like v9 is around the corner, so
it seems incredibly bad value if I buy now and I am no longer entitled to
upgrades after v9 is released. I could be misreading the policy. Is the
policy up to date? Have I understood it right?

thanks

Paul

Maybe it also shows weak character if people have to publically start to

HJM And it couldn't have come at a worse time.

I'm sure your post mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] helps
you solving the problems.

But maybe it's a little more efficient to describe the details of your
problem*s* and ask for help (if they're TB! related you're already at
the right place for this). Mabye, but I might be wrong ...

I didn't follow all your mails and threads, but as far as I read
you've managed to set up TB! and recover your accounts (somehow). The
next step, if you're unable to find/figure what you want/need is to
read and/or ask for help with a concrete and detailed described
problem.

My crystal ball is on repair, and I have the feeling others doesn't
work ATM too, so I'm sad to have to tell you: you'll need to write a
few sentences about your major problems, as nobody here will be able
to know them and help you if you don't.

N.B.: Happy ranting. It's unproductive, but if it helps you to cool
down. The worst that will happen is everybody ignoring your
posts if you rant to often, with the consequence your chances to
find somebody helping your solve your problem(s) can be lowered
to estimated zero. For me that's not really a problem, it
might just be one for you, someday.

Jack's announces his new upgrade policy for TB

2005-08-07 Thread Handsome Jack Morrison

Jack will next upgrade his two copies of The Bat to newer versions
only three years *after* all of the following things occur:

1. It snows in Miami, Florida in August.
2. A cure for cancer is found.
3. The Chicago Cubs win the World Series.
4. Microsoft files for bankruptcy protection.
5. Osama Bin Laden converts to Roman Catholicism.

And maybe not even then.

That's always possible.

I'd accept it, of course, but I wouldn't understand it.

Unless, of course, you're only welcome here if you're going to sing
TB's praises?

IMO, it wouldn't hurt some of you to stop taking yourselves so
seriously, and lighten up a bit. I'm having major problems. I'm
angry, I'm frustrated, and tired. And it couldn't have come at a worse

Yet some of you seem to delight in biting at my ankles during my
troubles

I think that says more about you than it does about me.

If you buy 1.6 you'll get all updates within 1.xx for free. Current
planning is to not have any more updates within v1 (except for
bugfixing), because v2 shall be released in the near future - whatever
that could mean.

For v2 there has not been an announcement by RITLabs concerning the
upgrade policy.

I've been using TB since v1.00 Build 1336 in May 1998 and they have
not released a chargeable upgrade since then. V2 will most likely be
chargeable, but very likely not for those who register 1.60. (That's a
guess).
