Re: Ghost QT
Hello Assad, Tonight I tried your suggestion. I deleted the account.qtn from my main mail account and all my quick templates were there except the ghost template disappeared by magic.. Strange but it works. Thanks for the suggestion. That's because it was a shared account QT, not a common one and of course no ghost. Anyway, glad it works for you now. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Ghost QT
Hello Assad, I think it is a common QT and not an account QT shared; but I don't find any Common QT in my Quick Templates. Maybe it is deleted or is bug them then. M You may try something. M - Exit TB. M - Look for ACCOUNT.QTB file in your MAIL directory (which holds Common QTs). M - Copy it to a safe place and then delete it or rename it. M - Start TB and try to use your 'salutation' QT. M - If it doesn't work, then you are right and it is a Common QT M - If it does work, then my friend, it is a shared account QT I do not have a common folder in my mail directory. I remember having one but deleted it long time ago. You don't need any common folder in order to have Common QTs, they are not related to each other. As I said in my previous message, Common QTs are in ACCOUNT.QTB file in _MAIL_ directory. When I do New Message -Utilities - Insert - Insert Quick Template; I find the QT there but cannot find it in Menu -Tools-Quick Templates. My only conclusion is that it is the ghost of the deceased common folder which I deleted long ago! I gave up but thanks really to everyone who helped me. As I say above, Common QTs are totally independent of Common folders. I have several common QTs and don't have (never had) any common folders. Please try what I suggested in my previous message. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Ghost QT
Hello Assad, M Then, if you don't have any Common QTs, it must be an Account QT that is M *shared*. Shared and Common QTs work the same, they can be used in any M account. Look in your Account(s) QT list(s). I think it is a common QT and not an account QT shared; but I don't find any Common QT in my Quick Templates. Maybe it is deleted or is bug them then. You may try something. - Exit TB. - Look for ACCOUNT.QTB file in your MAIL directory (which holds Common QTs). - Copy it to a safe place and then delete it or rename it. - Start TB and try to use your 'salutation' QT. - If it doesn't work, then you are right and it is a Common QT - If it does work, then my friend, it is a shared account QT Don't forget to exit TB and get your original ACCOUNT.QTB file back in place. TB should have created a new and empty one when exiting. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Ghost QT
Hello Assad, I have a ghost quick template. It triggers but I cannot find it in the Quick Templates list. Any idea? I think you should try to give some more details of what is happening and why you think it is because of a 'ghost' QT. If you can't find it in the QT list, how do you know it is a QT what is triggering/executing? AFAIK, QTs don't trigger/execute automatically, they are either executed manually by typing its handle followed by Ctrl+Space or because they are 'called' from another QT or template with the %QINCLUDE macro. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Any idea? Is it an account-specific QT, or is it listed under common templates? If it is account-specific, is it listed under a different account to where you are looking? It may have the share with other accounts box ticked. Hello Assad, It is common because I tested the handle with different accounts and it works. Then, if you don't have any Common QTs, it must be an Account QT that is *shared*. Hello Assad, Saturday, April 12, 2014, 3:37:33 PM, you wrote: AK Really it's not there! I'm not blind. That's why it's a ghost! Well, if it IS a ghost, then you should contact some other instance, such as, f.i. Ghost Busters; some might prefer to call a shaman, others would play safe and call Jennifer Love-Hewitt! :-) Seriously, such a problem can be very annoying, I had a problem with a QT that would not work, not set up as a address-group based QT, not as a folder template; not even when it was used as a contact-specific QT. Turned out I was testing it with a contact of which the email-address was also used in another contact with a quite similar name (belonging to the same person), but that did not belong to the address-group I was working with. So, if it is not a ghost, the only advice I can give you: don't look for the obvious... -- Kind regards, Mark Current version is 6.1.8 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
