Re[2]: How to open attached files with .EML file extensions?

2000-03-15 Thread Justin D. Paine

Hello Uwe,

I'll add more data to my profile, perhaps it will help you. I have
I.E. 5.00.2920. installed. Have not installed Outlook2000 since my
last reinstall, and have not ever bothered to setup OExpress (still
trying to find a way to get that crap off my system and out of my
registry grin) Both of your attachments opened up in TheBat!'s
internal viewer. I can send a screenshot if you'd like. (off list of
course)

Best regards,

UB A capability for calling an external editor, while desirable, would not

UB To illustrate the problem, I enclose two identical copies of a sample

UB attachment is named "sample.eml". The second attachment is named
UB "sample.msg".

UB TB! 1.41 can open "sample.msg" with its internal viewer but has to call
UB Outlook Express to open "sample.eml".

JA my sig for my version info.

Hows that then? I am also running 1.41 final but TB! does not open the eml
file when I try to view it. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact
that OExpress and Outlook are not, and have never been, part of this
particular windows installation and therefore the file extension is not
 already registered?

JA I don't have OExpress or Outlook on this machine either. I don't know
JA what the problem could be. Have you tried downloading the absolute

JA like this are kind of just slipped in when nobody is looking. :)

Open up regedit and look eml if M$ Outlook or express has been loaded you
will see links into them from .eml

It even quotes RFC822.

That must be a GEDCOM-file.

All genealogy programs have their own ways of storing/organizing data.
GEDCOM is an attempt to standardize transport of genealogy data between
different programs, and is (as far as I know), the only common format
for this purpose today.

You will ned a program like "Family Tree Maker" or "Brothers Keeper"
