FWIW, I never hit such problem.
The only way to get in troubles consists in hammering the history.sqlite file:
echo 1 > /var/lib/dnf/history.sqlite

Now almost all dnf operations fails (except dnf search):

dnf update
...
RuntimeError: C++ std::exception: Exec failed: file is not a database

And in the journal:
Sep 14 10:20:11 hostname python3[8830]: detected unhandled Python
exception in '/usr/bin/dnf'
Sep 14 10:20:11 hostname abrt-notification[8856]: Process 8830 (dnf)
of user 0 encountered an uncaught RuntimeError exception
-- Subject: ABRT has detected an uncaught RuntimeError exception in dnf
...

Deleting the "corrupted" history.sqlite, it restores the normal situation.

2018-08-15 Thread Alessio Ciregia
Hello.
I would like to ask if a test day about interoperability, if it is the
right term to use, makes sense.
Test cases that come to mind could be related to online accounts (in

to remote servers.
Such test days I think could be organized when each beta release hits the
road.

In addition, running such tool on F29 (kernel

Testcase upgrade previous workstation encrypted problem

Performing the test case "upgrade dnf previous workstation encrypted"

I hit the same issue upgrading the system using either dnf or
gnome-software as well.

I'm able to reproduce the issue also after the Beta 1.2 compose hits
the road right today.

Yesterday I filed a bug, 1561072
The bug was closed providing a solution (running fixfiles command)
that in fact resolves the issue.

However this doesn't meet the test requirement, since the upgrade
should lead to a system not showing any crash or warning report; so
the bug should not have been closed. Isn't it?

Hello. Maybe someone else can explain better than me.
However, every day one or more composes are produced (let's call them
nightly builds) but you can report the results (directly on the wiki or via
relval) only on composes nominated for test (test event). Such nomination
is made automatically based on some heuristic rules.
In fact, if you visit the wiki page containing the results [1] you are not
supposed to find the latest compose, but instead the last nominated for
testing.
I think you can find more info here [2].

I hope I didn't wrote anything wrong.

Even if personally I'm not very happy, the decision has been taken.

Using Fedora-Cloud-Base-28-20180310.n.0.x86_64.qcow2 and following the

Testcase upgrade gnome-software current workstation

2018-03-03 Thread Alessio Ciregia
Hello.
I was following the test case "upgrade gnome-software current
workstation" [1] upgrading F27 to F28 using GNOME Software.
I got the warn as in the screenshot [2] stating that fwupdate related
software is incompatible with Fedora 28. Is this ok?

Thanks,

Re: Beta 1.5 and Virtualbox

Finally I was able to install F27 using netinstall and text interface.
I'm able to login in a text console, and to enable ssh.
Using startx I'm able to get the GNOME GUI.
But, instead of startx, if I issue the command "systemctl start gdm" the
virtualbox screen goes black.
If I stop gdm (via ssh), I get a core dump. Process 1273 (gnome-shell) of
user 42 dumped core.
I'm collecting logs in order to file a bug.

In any case I think that it is a bad issue. I can suppose that many people

Netinst taking long time to look at a mirror?

2017-06-04 Thread Alessio Ciregia
Using netinst images, I'm experiencing a long time waiting for setting up
installation source.
I'm using KVM, and in a NAT configuration it seems that, in addition, there
are issues with geoip (geoip.fedoraproject.org), or in other words
determining the location. Maybe this is a expected behaviour.
Thinking that the two issues were linked, I've set up a bridge
configuration. Now the location is successfully determined (the proposed
language is no more English in the first screen of the installation
process). Anyway the Installation Source continues to take a long time
before being available.

Someone is experiencing the same issues?
Is it an expected behaviour since that there are not so many mirrors around
the world working for Fedora 26?
