this somewhere else other than?I live down here but I live nowhere near a

That was "Little Brehmer Cave" just outside of New Braunfels.
I have not heard if it is being protected, or if it is now in somebodies
backyard.

I am trying to catalog the material on Mexican caves that has appeared
in the Texas Caver over the years, a fairly major project. Can anyone
identify the cave near Ocampo, Tamaulipas, featured in Wayne Russell's
article about a snafu trip, 1973, no. 2, pp. 31-33? C. 350-foot pit

I checked my list of Deep Pits of Mexico and it does not have an entry
corresponding to this cave, unless the depth given for the entrance
pit is substantially wrong. I, too, am interested in finding out what
cave this is, and whether it was ever properly explored and surveyed.
If not, sounds
Mystery cave was, I think, Sótano de Vasquez. I found something a few
pages on in the same issue of the Texas Caver that clarified. The map
shows entrance drop as two drops with a ledge, 17 and 84 m, which
together agree pretty well with the rough depth in the article about
the fiasco
Thanks, Bill. I do have Vasquez in the deep pit list. There's a
write-up (including map) about the cave in AMCS Activites Newsletter
14, pp. 36-39 (1984). I had considered that as one possibility for the
mystery cave, but the fiasco trip wasn't mentioned in that article.

I would assume this is because of the number of strictly non caving related

When I took over the list in 2008 or so, we had just barely over 300 members.

Seems like Mystery cave is a game which will drive more cavers off Cavetex.
