This was called "Slicing" in the old TWC. It was a much-loved feature that didn't make it into TW5. I believe Thomas Elmiger has an extract macro which can be used in a similar fashion. See the thread:

Hi Mario As far as testing, I've just installed it and made my missing alias links red, which now show correctly. I am not able to test the other resolved issue with the multiple elements. But so far, its working great. The only thing for me now is the ? tiddler and how to handle backlinks
