[tw5] Populate field upon saving tiddler

2021-02-19 Thread switchplayer
Hello,

I am wanting to find a way to have a field populated/updated each time I
save the tiddler. This field should take values from two other fields.

Simple example:

(Field 1) First Name: DA
(Field 2) Last Name: Carson

(Field 3) Full Name: DA Carson

I want Field 3 to be populated with the values from Field 1 and Field 2
each time the tiddler is saved.

Definitely appreciate any input here...still a newbie with TiddlyWiki!

I don't know actually, but I expect it's possible. I'm still learning how
to do things with TW5.

I created https://github.com/simonbaird/tiddlyhost/issues/55

Re: [tw5] Announcing Tiddlyhost.com

2021-02-19 Thread Simon Baird
Here's the general step by step:

* (Assuming you're signed up and logged in.)
* Create a site
* Click on the name of the site and you should see a new empty TiddlyWiki
in a new tab
* Click the save button and look for the save confirmation

Can you walk me through what you did and what happened?

Re: [tw5] Announcing Tiddlyhost.com

2021-02-19 Thread Simon Baird
You can, but it's not well (or at all) documented. If you just want to run
it locally, it's fairly simple. Just follow the steps in the readme. If you
want to host it somewhere so others can see it then it's a little harder.

See also

Tiddlyhost.com is the successor to Tiddlyspot.com. I've been working
hard on it since early January and I'm really happy with the progress. It's
pretty new, and still in development, but I feel like it's ready for some
 kind of launch.

 Unlike Tiddlyspot, Tiddlyhost:
 * Is secure
 * Has a password recovery mechanism
 * Supports TiddlyWiki5
 * Is fully open source
 * Let's you share and discover TiddlyWiki sites

If that sounds good, please sign up at https://tiddlyhost.com/ and
 give it a try.

If you have suggestions or experience problems, please file an issue
[1]. See also the code [2] and the FAQ [3].

 Ps, a few notes:
 * As mentioned, Tiddlyhost is new and in development. I can't guarantee
there won't be problems. It would be wise to download your site once in a
while just in case something goes terribly wrong and your data gets lost.
 * Please be nice. For example don't upload your entire photo
collection, or generate a ton of spammy content.

 Hi

since a week i am rediscovering TW5, really fun but quite for me a
 steep learning curve.
 But I am trying.
I have a daily journal entry where i log everything i do in for work.
What i would love is the following:
When i put something like say *TODO* on a line, that that line will
 automagically
be added to my todo list.

So i have this in my journal (or normal tiddler):

 --
 Walked on the beach
 Let the dog out
 *TODO* remember to buy dogfood
 Wrote documentation for project XYZ
 Called DaveSmith
*TODO* buy birthday present for Dave
 -

That (only) the 2 *TODO* lines would be added to my TODO Tiddler.
 That would be really nice.
 Is this somehow possible?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pointers to tutorials on programming TW5 are welcome as well.
I progress very slowly each day but hey, i am progressing ;-)

[tw5] Re: Writing Recommendations

2021-02-19 Thread David Gifford
My top two recommendations for making TW more like a writing machine:

1. The editor-autolists plugin
(https://saqimtiaz.github.io/sq-tw/editor-autolists.html), if you don't
mind writing in bulleted or numbered lists. It makes it easy to hit enter
and go to the next line, and hit tab to indent.
2. My setup for hiding what is visible in edit mode:
https://giffmex.org/gifts/documenting.tw.html#Control%20what%20is%20visible%20in%20edit%20mode

The second one frees up visual screen real estate so you are not distracted
by all the stuff in TW edit mode.

Re: [tw5] Debugging TiddlyWiki crashes

2021-02-19 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Lisa,

As a first step towards addressing this I've made a first prerelease of v0.0.15
of TiddlyDesktop which just includes an update to the newest version of nwjs
(v0.51.1), and no other functional changes:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyDesktop/releases/tag/v0.0.15-prerelease.1

I'd be grateful if you're able to test it.

Best wishes

Jeremy

It is easy to use a lot of time there (and even more testing possibilities

Thanks!

I found the Unisys one a few minutes after my first post. It is helpful,
but I'm getting some cognitive brain-freeze trying to consolidate that with
the Railroad Diagramming documentation at TiddlyWiki.com .

Who knew it would be so hard to Google something clear and simple?

[tw5] Tiddly Plugin missing close button

2021-02-19 Thread Douglas Glenn
I get this as a result selecting 'Plugins' tab on the control panel, the
select 'Get more plugins'

Up pops this window.

It may simply be interference from another plugin. It used to work fine
with both repositories. I have not installed any plugin this year I am
aware of. I'd finished adding any in December 2020. This time I wanted some
more theme choices. But after selecting them and closing the library the
popup tab remained without the close button on it.

Any ideas?

They aren't particularly complicated, but I was wondering if anybody knows

have anything to do with data tiddlers.

Re: [tw5] Re: question: sorting index:value in a dataTiddler by values

2021-02-19 Thread Mohammad Rahmani
Hi Mark,
Many thanks for your comments. For now, I use your solution with Mario
keyvalues (https://wikilabs.github.io/editions/keyvalues/) to sort
key:values.
Unfortunately it seems the values filter operator has little chance to be
merged ()

I personally do not like to include JS in my solution, but for it seems
there is no better solution.

@stobot
In my opinion, data tiddler / JSON tiddler are quite handy elements, but it
seems there is little or no desire to improve their functionality in the
core. I believe some basic features like what Mario has proposed are really
useful.

Best wishes

One solution is as below, but for large number index - value (e.g 200
or more) the solution is very slow

 This solution contains

 1. a populate macro to list all values
 2. a wikify and list widget let sort values
 3. a lookup macro to find index(s) for a value

 \define  dataTiddler() myData
 \define myfilter() [indexes[]]

 \define populate()
 <$list filter="[subfilter]">
 <$text text={{{[getindex]}}}/>

 \end

 \define lookup-index(val)
 <$list filter="[subfilter]" variable=idx>
 <$list filter="[getindex] +[match[$val$]]">

 <$link to=<> /> $val$

 \end

 <$wikify name=u text=<> >
 <$list filter="[enlistnsort[]]">
 <$macrocall $name=lookup-index val=<> />

The above can be tested in https://tiddlywiki.com/ if one creates a
data tiddler with the myData title containing the data of the previous
 post.

Question: as stated above this solution is very slow for large numbers
of data (index-value pairs). What alternative solution do you propose?

 Best wishes
 Mohammad

2021-02-19 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
I'm sure a JS solution works well. But for production or long-term use you
should call it something like "alvaro_values" or "myvalues" because it is
entirely plausible that some day the core will have a "values" operator. If
the "values" operator appears, it will likely work in a completely
different way than yours.

Re: [tw5] Re: How to get TiddlyWiki running behind Nginx

2021-02-19 Thread eirich
Yep, the 212 IP belongs to the server where I have Nginx and TiddlyWiki
installed, so that's why I set the same IP in the host parameter. The
server is headless, so with this configuration I can access the web page
from any other computer on the same network. As for the "try_files $uri
$uri/ @proxy =404;" line, I think I picked this up from one of the various
pages I used to research the configuration. According to the default nginx
file the, concerning "try_files" line: First attempt to serve request as
file, then as directory, then fall back to displaying a 404. @proxy was a
later addition.

The TiddlyWeb syncadaptor plugin calls those URLs to interact with the
node server. The node server loads tiddlers marked as "module-type: route"
and maps them as handlers to those urls. The browser should be calling
 "/var/www/html/recipes/*default*/tiddlers.json" in order to get
handled. If your wiki is loading, but the calls to "/status", etc are not
getting back to the node server, then I'm not sure where the block would
 be.

Re: [tw5] Re: question: sorting index:value in a dataTiddler by values

2021-02-19 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Hi Mohammad,

Whatever process you use to make the data tiddler needs to escape the
colon's. Like replace ":" with __SEPARATOR__ . And then the code above
would replace __SEPARATOR__ with ":" in the report.

Yes, JSON fixes some problems. But it is not-human readable without a lot
of formatting, and it is very unforgiving. Like a single comma at the end
of an array sequence will throw an error. This makes it difficult to
quickly edit JSON by hand, since you have to go comma-wrangling every time.

Assume you have a dataTiddler or JSON tiddler with data like below

 nella: -1
 rita: 1
 villa: 0
 lola: -7
 sina: 3
 cobra: 2
 fifa: -2
 zila: 3
 afra: 1

I want to list data in this dictionary table sorted by value, so I
 should have

   lola: -7
   fifa: -2
   nella: -1
   villa: 0
   afra: 1
   rita: 1
   cobra: 2
   sina: 3
   zila: 3

Note, there are duplicated values. The solution is that new entries
created from appending value to index like value::index do not work here!
As you need to use nsort

 Best wishes

Not really sure how to fix the issue. The worst thing is it happens on some

The only plugin I have is a calendar plugin. Is that the reason for “event”?

Re: [tw5] Announcing Tiddlyhost.com

2021-02-19 Thread scot
Hi Stephen,
I managed to create an account on Tiddlyhost.com which produced a new empty
TW.
My problem was that I could not save any changes to it. When I added new
tiddlers, they didn't show on the downloaded TW.
I tried to upload an existing wiki using Tiddlyspot Saver details:

Wiki Name: twfile.tiddlyhost.com
password: tiddlyhost new site password
Server URL:https://mysite.tiddlyhost.com
Upload Filename: index.html
File didn't upload.
I also tried just using the save button on TW , which didn't saved the file

2021-02-19 Thread Ste
Hi scot
Tiddlyspot no longer works due to action by Simon's hosting company a few
months ago. You cna download your stuff but that's all. This is about the
new shiny glorious successor to tiddlyspot called tiddly host. Try the link
in the original posts.
I set up an account.. Found my old tiddlyspot, downloaded it then imported
it from the new tiddly host.
Works without a hitch.

2021-02-19 Thread scot
Simon, thanks very much for providing this great tool.

I'm sorry but I failed to create a TW on my site and save it successfully.
Tried saving on Firefox and Chrome browser. Downloaded it, no saved changes.
It's been a while since I used Tiddlyspot Saver could be something simple
that I'm doing wrong.
Can anyone offer any help please.

Tiddlyhost.com is the successor to Tiddlyspot.com. I've been working
hard on it since early January and I'm really happy with the progress.
It's pretty new, and still in development, but I feel like it's ready
for some kind of launch.

Unlike Tiddlyspot, Tiddlyhost:
* Is secure
* Has a password recovery mechanism
* Supports TiddlyWiki5
* Is fully open source
* Let's you share and discover TiddlyWiki sites

If that sounds good, please sign up at https://tiddlyhost.com/
 and give it a try.

If you have suggestions or experience problems, please file an issue

Ps, a few notes:
* As mentioned, Tiddlyhost is new and in development. I can't
guarantee there won't be problems. It would be wise to download your
site once in a while just in case something goes terribly wrong and
your data gets lost.
* Please be nice. For example don't upload your entire photo
collection, or generate a ton of spammy content.

Awesome! Thank you for sharing.

Is it "fully open source" in the sense that we can self host it?

This is an old question and there are several solution for that, but
not for the case I explain here

Assume you have a dataTiddler or JSON tiddler with data like below

 nella: -1
 rita: 1
 villa: 0
 lola: -7
 sina: 3
 cobra: 2
 fifa: -2
 zila: 3
 afra: 1

I want to list data in this dictionary table sorted by value, so I
 should have

   lola: -7
   fifa: -2
   nella: -1
   villa: 0
   afra: 1
   rita: 1
   cobra: 2
   sina: 3
   zila: 3

Note, there are duplicated values. The solution is that new entries
created from appending value to index like value::index do not work here!
As you need to use nsort

 Best wishes

[tw5] Re: How to get TiddlyWiki running behind Nginx

2021-02-19 Thread Petri M.
This 192.168.1.212 is the IP of the server where the nginx and TW are
running? The thing is that the docs say that the "host" parameter is "...
*host* is the IP address on which the server listens" and " *n.n.n.n* -
listens for connections on the network interface with the specified IP
address". Afaik usually this is just 127.0.0.1 if you are connecting from
the same computer and it should be the same 127.0.0.1 in nginx as well.
Though I don't know, I guess it does not make a difference.

Though I am curious about the try_files $uri $uri/ @proxy =404; command you
have there. I do not know about nginx but are you sure you need this? What
is this @proxy? You might want to take a peek at how that works.

Also, in the Nginx logs I see the following:

failed (2: No such file or directory)

I can definitely say there are no "status" or "recipies" directories or
files in /var/www/html, so this seems like the obvious reason for the 400
errors, but why are they being looked for?

Re: [tw5] Unicode asian characters in Freelinks

2021-02-19 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi keSh, maki,

I can confirm the problem too. It turns out to be subtlety with the way that
regular expressions work. I’ve made a GitHub ticket here:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/5507

It’ll take a bit of discussion to figure out the best solution,

Best wishes

Jeremy

[tw5] Re: Looking for TODO rule in Tiddler that creates automagically a TODO item.

2021-02-19 Thread Jean-Philippe Rutault
Hi,

I achieve excatly this with the use of Eucaly's matchfilter
http://eucaly-tw5.tiddlyspot.com/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Feucaly%2Fmatchfilter

Create a macro tiddler with the following code:

\define regex-todo() \s*TODO\:'*\s*((?:.*)*)(?gmi)

\define todo(tag)
<$list filter="[$tag$!prefix[$:/core]regexp:text[TODO\:]!has[draft.of]]">

<$link to={{!!title}}><$list
filter="[{!!title}]">{{!!title}}
<$list
filter='[{!!title}match:text]'>{{!!title}}

\end

Use it with <> to display all lines starting with TODO: as a
todolist. You can use it with <> to display only Todo that
appears in tiddler tagged with mytag
