On mobile for me (android, chrome)ha long press and drag to select text doesn't
make the edit bar appear. A double tap to select a word makes it appear but it
likes being covered over by the android copy paste options but an awesome
thing. Here's t long conference calls!

There are lots of other options for saving your wiki, see by

Sounds interesting.

Thanks for this new tool anyway! I shall be keeping it my wiki.

2020-06-03 Thread Ste Wilson
On playing a little morethe right hand tag doesn't appear in just table
of content tiddlerswhich makes it more useful, but doesn't appear in
all tiddlersshould it, or does it only appear in tiddlers which have
other tiddler tagged with them? Interesting :)
It's looking like it will make my wiki a whole lot quicker to navigate!

Will keep playing :D

[tw5] Re: Re-imaging tag pills working prototype macros

2020-06-03 Thread Ste Wilson
Hi Tony,
Yes, you can't drag things into a wiki on chrome. It's not the end of the
world, the import button can be used, but it's not quite as smoth :)
On the other hand, I've recklessly added your macros to my wiki o have a
play with!

So quick bit of feed back!

For me the tag that appears on the right in toddlers tagged Table of
Contents seems a little redundant as the functionality is provided by the
clicking on the tag pill table of contents, and anything I have tagged with
that is a list of the toddlers tagged with that toddler, so the right tag
does not provide any additional functionality of info!

Everything else looks good!

It looks like a good set up of plungins and quality of life improvements! I've
opened it but must confess I don't really know what to do with it differently
from a normal tiddlywiki :). I definetly think it's a good thing though. A set
of complementary plugins so it's just download and go.

Next to the search bar is a small magnifying glass. Click on that and an
'Advance search' Tiddler will open. It should pop up in the shadow or
system tags if you can remember the name! putting $:/ in front of a
toddler title hides it from regular searches because it's usually code or
template or something that works ON the wiki, but isn't a note or
information. :)

2020-05-15 Thread Ste Wilson
Hi Ian, welcome to the tiddlyverse :)

I think if TiddlyRoam is working for you and the way your working, stick
with it :) I believe (and I'm sure Dave will correct me if I'm wrong) that
Stroll is a development on from TiddlyBlink and does some things
differently.

To actually answer your question, a quick and easy way is if you hit the
tick button in your wiki to download an HTML copy of it you could then drag
that into an empty stroll and see what happens? (MAKE SURE YOU TEST ON A
COPY FIRST!!!)

Or do the same thing in reverse! Drag an empty downloaded Stroll into your
wiki (MAKE SURE YOU TEST ON A COPY FIRST!!!) and see what happens!

You may, of course, need a more nuanced solution involving advance search,
export and /or filters and others move versed in this will I'm sure help
out!

(MAKE SURE YOU TEST ON A COPY FIRST!!!) (MAKE SURE YOU TEST ON A COPY
FIRST!!!) (MAKE SURE YOU TEST ON A COPY FIRST!!!) (MAKE SURE YOU TEST ON A
COPY FIRST!!!)

:D

Hi Tony,
I think as has been said before.. Their just aren't that many of us so getting
a weight of numbers to start a shift to something else is difficult. (I mean
just have a look at the amount that happens ON gg when you and TT are absent)
(Did I join you on yammer?! If not I apologise).

I've completely forgotton what, if any, point I was going to make after that.

See you tomorrow.

Re: [tw5] Re: The MESS of knowing what is what ... GG is poison ...

2020-05-11 Thread Ste Wilson
We have been down and around this topic several times before and the outcome is
usually that yes Google groups is a bit meh but this is where the community is,
there have been attempts to get other platforms going we have a Reddit (which I
think was Riz driving that) .. There may be a yammer.. but the interesting
stuff seems to stay here.
Have a search (here we get to the main gg problem) on here for previous
discussions.
What is needed for a move is an easy import mechanism for the stuff here, an
option for posts to be emailerised, threads.. Voting.. Tags... Then we need
mods.. And finally.. Possibly.. Someone, or a mechanism for the community, to
stump up some cash if that solution is non free.

The points raised at the start of the discussion are that as well as the
threads of discussion we need to be able to, actively as a community, add to a
curated body of knowledge about tiddlywiki as solutions and code snippets are
presented because what we lose here is continuity.

If only we could do it with tiddlywiki *cough cough* :D

Way back in the mists of time there was... Somewhere on this here group by some
other wonderful person.. A more literal take on the post it. I've failed to
find it in the group but have dug out the relevant tiddlers from my wiki. Just
drag em into yours :)

The final one entitled post it note shows the code you can then use in a
tiddler to insert the post it note button.

Is it a ui issue? Improve the work flow of expediting functionality? If a
button on the edit toolbar created the Transcluded image tiddler seamlessly and
allowed drawing directly in the text tiddler so you never had to leave the
tiddler you were working on? Or perhaps opened the sketch tiddler at the side
or something so you had a 'sketch space'? Later hovering over the image could
bring an edit/ view button into view like the tabs one.

I take it back! Just had another look at the sketching tool and it would
certainly do for the simple line drawings I'm sketching.
Thinking about it at least some of the reason i don't use it is the fairly
constant refrain in here.. 'images WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WIKI'.. So i followed
the advice and serve svg's into my wiki from drop box. This coupled with the
fact i can't DRAW svgs.. (no one wants to program pictures.. Do they?)
For more formal drawings i use ink scape and then send to my drop box..

To circle back to a couple of previous points..

A while ago someone linked to https://www.ryeboard.com/..

It doesn't do most of what tiddlywiki does (work on mobile for example) ... But
it looks s shiny...

And we are still struggling for a robust multi column drag and drop thingy...

I think that's at least one hurdle. It doesn't 'ping'.

I think the editions thing is also a valuable point. A slick landing page for
tiddlywiki.com three editions.. The blank one..hadcore! Build it yourself! The
get your website running straight away one which sets you up a tiddly spot or
the something like and comes with toc and presents some optional plugins as
part of the set up. Finally the slick one... Loaded to the eyeballs with
browser/ processor melting eye candy.. a gui for making filters... Bells..
Whistles..!

I think a name change.. Is perhaps not the biggest problem. But.. Because why
not.. My suggetions

Just 'TW'. Or THEWiki.. TWorkspace (though sounds a bit like twerk! But could
be said in a northern uk accent.. It's on't t'workspace.. :)

[tw5] Is there an Array/ DIM thing to make input fields from an input value?

I'm trawling through an old text book and it has some helpful BASIC
programs...and just because...I thought...'I know, it would be really usefull
for the students to have access to these...lets TWify them'...so..the question
then:

Is it possible to enter a number in a field which then creates that number of
input fields?

E.g How many apples do you have? 3

would create three input fields:

Apple 1 size=
Apple 2 size=

I know I could do it with IF/ ELSE juggeling or just providing up to say five
fields by default (More shouldnt be needed for this application) but just
wondered if there was an easier way?

[tw5] Re: TiddlyBlink (Roam-y experiment, contd)

2020-02-12 Thread Ste Wilson
Hi David,
Finally had a chance to try this out today. Most impressive!
Obviously I pushed it onto a copy of my engineering wiki to see what
happens...:)

Thoughts: Is it possible to turn off the backlinks from displaying in
individual tiddlers, for example, the Table of contents or 'Don't Panic'
landing screen? Fine control over referenced tiddlers might be useful, see
Force below, but for other terms it could be useful.
Like the parallel tab. Can I just has that please?

Is there any advantage to running tiddly blink if you DON'T display the
references? For example, I use the work *Force *a LOT and so the long list
of references isn't really helpful. Automagically putting links into all
tiddlers that have that word in however(i kinda lost the thread of the
discussion earlier so I'm not sure if it does this or not..)

Once again, awesome work.

Ste
