Hi
The 5680 series has some interesting firmware for temperature compensation.
If you are at one temperature, they are very stable. Move the temperature up or
down an bit and the stability is much worse. It appears they aren't very smart
about hysteresis in the temp comp code.

I finally got around to testing a couple of FE5860 I bought on eBay 19 months
ago for $30.00 a piece including shipping.
I have PPS, !0Mhz, lock indication all connected and working.
Rs232 appears to be working as this command appears to have had a chat with the

Latest docs emailed.
On this subject, I've noticed renewed discussion regarding the FE 5680a.
I've got parts to put another ten kits together if anyone is in need.
After these ten, it will be a matter of reordering boards if there is enough
interest.
cheers,

Hi Geoff,

Some two years back, Ian Muir (AKA Gonzo?) produced a breakout board
for the FE 5860A, one of which I have. Needless to say, I managed to
loose (tidy away!) the documentation.
Despite searching the archives and google, I cannot find a link to
this. perhaps somebody can help.
Thanks Geoff

Was wondering if anyone ever confirmed the type of RF connector found
internally in the FE-5860a?
I've seen several posts calling it a Hirose U.FL, but the linked thread
suggests that it might actually be an OSMT connector:

Or is everyone
A premade U.FL to SMA cable worked fine for me, a few years ago in my
5680A. However as mentioned a few days ago, there are _many_
variations/generations of this unit. FEI might have changed the connector.
