Attila,
From my (past) CATV experience, ferrite-based devices don't introduce
noise as such but they can certainly pick up noise (or transmit) unless
they are toroidal or otherwise well screened.
However, they can introduce distortion if the winding flux density
approaches the ferrite's

Phase stable cables won't win you much benefit. You can't go past quad
shielded RG-6 for bangs-per-buck. It's available almost everywhere, cheap
and pretty low loss as 0.25 cables go. LMR-400 (etc) is a good
alternative.

As well as limiting the input voltage swing into the PIC with a ~2k2 resistor,
add an additional 4k7 or 10k resistor (AOT) across the PIC's Vcc rail to
ground. This swamps the rectified DC produced by the input drive signal when
the PIC DC supply is removed.

Well, still not strictly, strictly true !
In Ku K band earth stations I've worked in, I've never seen shoulder screws

I'd put money on one of the feedthrough caps (easily damaged upon installation)

From memory, the 5065A uses SM components, but these could be guilty.

If memory serves me correctly, Philips better quality PAL colour TV's

During lab evaluation, a sine wave locking source required much greater
power (15-20dB IIRC) to achieve lock. Further, lock limits were almost
impossible to discern with any degree of confidence.

Don't get confused with (a) recovering the transmitter's carrier

My call on this question is: very seldom with a properly designed

Having said that, I have a couple of broken crystals from once-working

fracture or

instructive to take a peak inside. However don't the E1938 cans have an
internal vacuum? Some care in opening may be required.

In the commercial world that the Z3815A's (and quite possibly the Z3801
