Thank you for the suggestions. I'm just learning about
the TI MSP430/C2000 possibilities (got eval boards)
to do a glitch free switching.
As I'm not fixed to the Atmels I will try to do the job
using one of these uCs rather than building stuff around
that Atmels ;)

Hello guys,
I'm looking for a possibility to make an automatic switching
between the internal µC oscillator (Atmel µC) to the 10MHz output
of my thunderbolt to use it as a precise µC clock. Has anybody an idea how
to do best
without disturbing the accuracy of the ref. signal?
Thank you in

Hi group,
just got a Prologix LAN interface and tried to get some
printouts from my Anritsu MS6804A but it didnt works.
Phase Noise Spectrum Surveillance prgs works fine
but 7470.exe allways tells me communication error 0x02
when I request a plot.
Communication to the Anritsu works cause it
Thank you all for your suggestions.
@ Attila:
I think your suggestion would be a little bit
too complicated. I dont want to write a dissertation :))
My idea was to simply get a low jitter out of the 100MHz
TCXO clocking the FPGA etc..
The fine TCXO I like to use is a AXLE20-12 from AXTAL.

@Tom
Unfortunately there are no free ADC channels in the concept
and there is a fixed adjustment (calibration) software routine
which I cannot change. Complete FPGA software is calculated
for a 100MHz clock. There is no possibility to change that.
So I dont have to fix a frequency- but a
Hello group,
I like to synchronisize a fine 100MHz TCXO with the
10MHz output of the Tbold. The TCXO has a EFC input.
I know this can be done
using a PLL but I do not want to add noise
to the very good noise parameters of the TCXO
cause the 100MHz signal is to be used to clock
a FPGA which
Hi group,
I know my request is off topic (sorry) but I'm desperately looking
for the two service manuals (Vol.1 2) to get my Anritsu MS-8604A
repaired (Mobile Radio Test incl. Spec-Analyzer). Does anybody have that
manual? Vol.1 can be found for sale on some web sites but Vol.2 doesnt.
Thank
Hi group,
I know my question is time-nuts of topics but as I know
there are some really skilled GHz specialists on the group
I like to ask whether somebody made experience
using a prescaler MMIC (i.e. up to 12GHz) as a
very wideband preamp?
Thanks for answering
Peter
Thanks Brice for the interesting PDF!

Hi group,
sorry I know its off topics but I'm desperately looking for a low-band mixer
HP 5086-7748 for my HP 8594 Spectr.-Analyzer.
There are some offers at ebay but the price is totally out of budget
(~600-700USD).
If the original typ isnt avaliable for amateurs budget I guess there must be
Hi nuts,
have got some interesting question from friends.
They asked
What coordinates are measured and registrated by a GPS.
Is it the position of the antenna, it could be 100m (300ft) away from me
or is it the position of the GPS RX as this is the position of the µC where
signals are
Thank you all for the nice ideas.
During shopping I found some interesting things.
1. disposable sparkling wine glasses made of PE (polyethelene).
They are made of very thin material (just like the glass onces)
and the microwave oven test leave them absolutely cold.
The size is 3.8
I didnt got the mail where Kaspers forming methode was shown.
Could anybody send me the link?
Thanks a lot

Hello,
I just did some experiments using a ceramic patch antenna inside a
small plastic (80 x 30 x 20mm) screw box and experienced much bader signals at
lower elevations.
The plastic is marked as PS (I guess polystyrole ?). Further experiments
covering a GPS with the same kind of box seemed to
Thanks Robert, Stanley and Bob for the tips.
I tested some materials in a microwave oven and they all seemed to
be good because there was no heating (maybe handwarm at 800W).
So the magic word seems to be refracting effects even at 1.5GHz...
As I cannot get a commercial helf sphere for putting
Hello,
I'm looking for manufactors/distributors of High Q (high Epsilon r) ceramic
materials.
Best would be cylindrical forms of ~ 10-30mm diameter.
Has anybody informations where to buy?
Thanks in advance

Hi group
watching tbolts disciplining it shows that is has a low resolution temperatur
sensor only which can be replaced by a high res. one.
Is there any document what typ it is and how to change it?

Hi group,
Warren found out that the signals TB gets out of my small ceramic typ
antenna are too weak. They are too noisy.
So I had a look for a good antenna and found some commercial typs called
choke-ring antenna. As they are really expensive is there any DIY solution

To John WA4WDL:
The coordinates out of my current (fixed) position calculated by
the SirF GPS and the tbold during a 48h survey are different.
On a map this differences makes up a shift of up to 100m around
my true qth. With other words if I would (and could) use the tbold
as a mobile GPS I
