So I like flag antennas, the full size kind that work very good for DX
reception under the right conditions. Noise hunting is an entirely different
animal usually requiring an entire toolbox of equipment unless you get lucky
(which never has happened for me!).
The first part of the hunt is to

This is a bit high for a beverage.

The first time I met with Stew he had his 160 DXCC application in ARRL hands
for quite a while and they would not issue the certificate or tell him whether
they would or not.
His position was in effect, I guess I have some enemies there. He was quite a
gentleman about the whole thing again
The problem for the climate wizzkids is that the Maruder minimum correlates
exactly to theamount of glacial ice in the northern hemisphere, thus if true,
they are going to have to paintthe glaciers black to make their predictions
will be correct.
Standby.
It would seem political. If we get a Maunder minimum, most likely theclimate
will cool thus the "sky is falling" climate people will have a hard time.
Of note:
?We expect Solar Cycle 25 will be very similar to Cycle 24: another
fairly weak cycle, preceded by a long, deep minimum,? said panel
The best way to isolate the TX antenna for receiving is to have it float above
ground. The worst means is grounding the antenna. The grounded antenna will
re-radiate any noise it captures rendering your RX antenna useless. It only
takes a few PF to ground to make a TX antenna your principal
Carol,
What kind of transformer are you using? The best transformers are the binocular
core transformers that have separate primary and secondary isolated winding's.
Did you keep the coax shield disconnected from the ground rod? The secondary
should connect the beverage one one wire and ground

Now, can someone tell me how W1BB gained access to the top of that tower?
Stew led the RACES group in Winthrop and donated his time and equipment
So I had this same noise in our new remodeled kitchen and it was really bad. I
found the problem was not the led's but the 12 vac switching power supply
feeding them. I purchased 12vac transformers, put them on a plastic box and
wired them in place of the switching supply and all the noise is
I agree with John K9DX, these stupid circular arguments about ethics has been
vetted here more than any other useless topic.
Please moderator, stop this useless banter.

I love walking down 160 memory lane. I add to Tom's list of Stew contributions
to 160 DXhis bulletins he sent out to DX'ers world wide promoting 160 and the
transatlantic tests.
I'll never forget getting a phone call around midnight one transatlantic test
night; it was Stewcongratulating me for
Mark,
I asked Stew a very similar question. He said in effect-
"Contests are only good for working DX. I don't participate in contests but I
work the DX that shows up for them".
So most likely Stew would operate his own contest, work DX but would not submit
a log.

I had a similar situation about 15 years ago with my next door neighbor who
had something in his house that was giving me S9 raspy noise 24x7. I could not
find the source in his house but I suspected his doorbell transformer that was
