Been listening intently on 160m for the TO6, 9X0 and 3V8 to be audioable,

Earily Oct is too soon for us, maybe there is hope for the 3V8...

Hello Buzz,
I have a 72 ft irrigation pipe vertical, plus a 67 ft insulated drop wire 5
ft, spaced 18 in. away from the top for 80m. Both antennas are fed at the
bottom with their own matching device. I have installed slightly over 100

I personally think you have created a lot of problems on all bands with 3

70ft between two is acceptable. But having one in the middle can cause a
number of problems in my mind...

Heard an N1, W9 and others work you, but your signal did not make it to
Arizona. I hoping you can get more power at some time. Otherwise, it will
take a fantastic 160m opening for us to hear you and you to hear us.
Will keep listening and hoping.

Hello Tree,
Good to hear condx you are working EU in the morning. I haven't yet from
AZ. W7RH is less than 75 miles from me. Guess I should get up in the early
hours of the morning.
But I was on last night trying out the FT8 mode on 160m and did work 25 EU.

Tnx for the info.
Wish someone else could put on 4U1ITU again but perhaps with a little

If your vertical is ground mounted you need alot more. I'd say atleast 36
radials, 135ft long. It will make a big difference in your signal and be
easier to match.
I have over 100 radials but probably an over kill, but I feel I have a good
signal on 160m.

I'm in the process of building a vertical phased antenna system for 80m and
160m. I am looking to purchase some crimp type connectors to build the
phasing lines but have not found any. RF Parts does not have them.
Somewhere online, it was suggested I use the typical RG8 /213 crimp-on

Want to thank all those who replied.
Seems I'll buy the braid crimp style connectors and then soldier the center
conductor. At Least this saves me from having to soldier the braid, which
does not always work so well.

Bill,
The HiZ antenna will greatly improve your hearing, especially with the weak
ones.
For a decent DX Tx antenna, I'd suggest an Inverted L. Make it as tall as
possible with atleast 24 quarter wave radials. I'd use a minimum of 48,
135ft radials. Of course you can try 4 elevated radials.

George,
I was able to work you a few days ago on 160m CW.
Since I do not need E5 (North) on any bands with my N6VR callsign, I'm
requesting that some of the remote ops start in 40m thru 160m using FT8.
I use W7YA on FT8 and have worked E51D on 10m thru 20m. There has been

However, I was fortunate yesterday, set my alarm for 5am, 1200z, and viola,
they were there calling CQ on FT8.
I had been on several times between 11:30z to 13:30z searching for them on
FT8. I have worked KH8S prior on CW 160m.

With W7YA, I need you only on 60m & 160m, FT8.

Hello Robin,
Hear you call two nights ago on CW. I worked George a few minutes later.
Now have 5 acres here in AZ to grow antenna and they seem to work. QTH is
quiet too.
George, thanks for the FT8 qso last night with W7YA, 3:30 am, with my AZ
call I use on FT8. That makes 9 bands.

He was not hearing well. Took op 3-4 minutes to work K6NA who has very good
