In addition to getting something with sufficient horsepower to run LMS,
I would also suggest using something that is sufficiently "open" to
allow you to install what you want.
Consider this example. There are already changes in LMS 7.8.0 (currently
in beta version) that provide support for TuneI

IPeng. It's quick and slick and I'm very happy with the sound quality.

my NAS drive, haven't installed anything else on the NAS. In the past I
have used USB sticks and external HD, but

Where are you running Logitech Media Server (LMS)? On a pc or Mac?
*Location 1
I presumed - probably incorrect - that I could put a NAS Hard Drive on
my router and access my music on my SBT. Has anyone had any experience
with this, would appreciate any feedback.

Option 1(Easiest): Get a router and connect them both to it, the router
does not have to have an internet connection.
Option 2: Install a DHCP server on the Raspbe

So I've been doing a LOT of reading and I want to be sure I understand
how to do this before I jump in. I have a Squeezebox Touch with an
externally powered Seagate Expansion 2 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard
Drive#STBV2000100. I have been using the Touch as a standalone music
server and putting
Drive have two particians? If yes, Windows would see both, Touch would
see only the first.
