A bit more testing shows completely random results each time the second
configuration is applied. For example this picture shows the problems
now occurring on the Sony screen rather than the Dell screen.
The biggest effect seen on the Sony screen in this instance included
mouse position offset
And here is the configuration that doesn't work. If I apply this the
Dell screen will have a part of it that is duplicated from the Sony
screen, the taskbar and even the mouse position will be offset from this
duplicate part (will try to get a screenshot of it)

Done some more playing and swapped the screens ports around on the card
to make it detect in the same order as I want them on the screen. It
basically doesn't cope with screens that have different resolutions

@Marek, I couldn't get sound working with kernel 4.12 on my laptop.
@Andrei, my sd card reader worked intermittently but since then I

I can also confirm that removing dbus-user-session fixes this issues,
and it was installed with flatpak. The steps in #67 got everything back
to normal. Thanks to Eberhard and 513G3 for the solution.
